    Guiyang Findings:



    • Dont go to Guiyang, especially if it's raining.


    • 24million Chinese and 2 English Foreigners! Now we know what it feels like to be stared at every day.


    • Although sometimes dodgy, the Chinese can also serve the freshest food on markets (check out the pictures at the bottom).


    • After at least 5 experiences on long drops/ squat toilets I still dont understand why the chinese prefer this ...

    ... Didi and granddaughter Mengya drove us to a historic town Qingyan. In our previous time in Guiyang we visited this former Ming-era military outpost a couple of times. Qingyan dates back to 1378 and was once a traffic between southwest provinces.

    In 1995 the town with its winding, smooth stone-flagged streets and partially restored city walls was a quiet haven for us to wander imagining what life would have been like.

    We also were looking for our Friday lunch favourite of 'sa gou fen' . A rice dish which we enjoyed and we wanted to check the cooking method.


    We did find it, although Wenfeng (Wayne), one of Sam's postgraduate students and friend who were we were walking with, skipped us past so quickly I couldn't get him to stop. He thinks it too dirty and dangerous to eat there. We respected ...
