It had been a long day, the first of the 3 scheduled to ride my bike from Denver to where I now live in Reno Nevada. I left that morning knowing there was snow falling in the cities around me. I left at 11 am and cruised on down I - 70. As I got closer to the mountains the sky got darker and the air got colder. Leaving manitou springs 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Really enjoyed the cabin and our cozy fire last night. Always fun to be on the road again, at the same time , never quite ready to leave behind places like this. Enjoyed Mo's Diner, We have a beautiful scenic drive today from Cripple Creek to Canon. Just got a super deal on breakfast at Denny's and won a free next meal. Later...the road engulfs us ...
... when we arrived. A cute dog kept following us around while we unpacked out bikes. A great end to a wonderful day. We only rode 400 km today, because we took our time and stopped a few times for sight seeing. We plan to go to the Arches in Utah tomorrow before heading down south to Buckeye, Arizona. Went to Gunnison, CO yesterday and saw the most amazing double rainbows
... near Gunnison and Crested Butte. It is exactly what we need at this point. We are alone, total silence, black night. For the first time in our journey the landscape is not moving.
Thank you Kate, we are hunkered down for a few days. Colorado's beauty has impressed us.
