While most JETs go home for Christmas and New Year, since it tends to be the season for homesickness, a few of us brave souls decided to stay in Japan to save some money and do some traveling. ... heading south was to reach Kiyomizedera Temple, but the cartoony tourist map made it look closer than it actually was, so the farthest south we got was Ryozen Kwannon (霊山観音). Ryozen Kwannon wasn't on my to do list, but a large statue of Kannon, Bodhisattva of compassion, made the temple stand-out from far away.
