Today I headed to Nagoya. After a missed connection caused by a delay on the 1st train from Fuji I had to think on my feet, having no way of accessing Wifi to figure a new route to Nagoya. So I decided to hop on the first local(and slow) train towards takao on the chuo line, remembering that this was the line towards Tokyo. Thankfully I then spotted an express line on the platform opposite and headed towards Tokyo ...

Sat next to a guy on the ltd express to Nagoya and he noticed how wet I was and asked "Suzuka"? We laughed a little and tried to have a conversation. Without more than a couple of words between us I managed to work out he raced motorcycles at Suzuka, until injuries to his knee and shoulder became too much. Perfect spot to watch the race, well, apart from the RSJ blocking the video screen but the best part about the rain was that there were plenty of empty seats so I moved a little closer after the first lap. Made it to the track and wandered about looking at the souvenir stands, same old stuff as you get at Melbourne. Redbull stand 4 deep in a queue, catherham: empty. First poor food experience since coming to japan.... I hope that's not because I'm fending for myself, as Amanda is back in Kyoto watching on the iPad, .... Doesn't bode well for the next two weeks when I'll be on my own. Just watched the drivers parade. And I have a perfect spot at the ...

      Tokyo to Nagoya via Odawarra

The new ultra fast MagLev train, the Chuo Shinkansen, will travel at 500 km/h. Partial operation will start by 2020, in time for the new Tokyo Olympics. By 2027, it will connect Tokyo to Nagoya, a distance of 342 Km. It would take less than an hour to travel that distance.

From Odawarra, we caught another shinkansen to Nagoya. That took about an hour. Unfortunately, there was a guy on the seat behind me who had severe feet ...
