Heritage journey spectacular!

... 1800s and still intact! Thatched roof and all. Even more nuts was that the current owners only go there on vacation but happen to be there! They were sooo kind and showed us around. The only sad part is they are planning to re-do the roof, so we are SO lucky we came when we did to see it as it was! We then roamed more crazy non labeled roads and asked a few random people on the way but were eventually successful in finding the school house where grandpa Willie ...

Cache-ing In

... the game of kubb, aka "Viking Chess." It was Team Sweden (with Samuel and his sons) vs. Team USA (with mom, Katrina and I). There were lots of yes, no, and groans that transcended the language barrier as Team Sweden started off in the lead for half the game until Team USA hit a string of good luck and made a quick wrap-up to take the win.

And then we ate Swedish candy for dessert, and it was addicting. :) ...

A Ferry Good Day

... an old cemetery, an herb garden and many fruit trees, all with a very kind tour guide who spoke in both Swedish and English. I am repeatedly impressed by how well and willingly everyone speaks English. It makes the lives of us English-speakers much easier (though I hate to admit that I can't speak enough Swedish to converse with others because it makes me feel like such a tourist here).

... and his wife Agneta while the two of us are spending the night here as Celie and Simon are on their honeymoon. It's a beautiful home that Samuel built with help and final touches by Simon. We are grateful to be able to stay here, but sad we cannot visit with Celie, but glad that it is because they are having such fun being married and traveling! (I could find more but's to add, but that about sums it up).

And then we had a sleepover, and it was fun. :)
