During our time off we had the chance to explore Mugla which was admittedly quite small. However there were opportunities to play sport in the local facilities and we were able to take the bus to a nearby beautiful beach called Akyaka. Akyaka is a beautiful place with a stunning stream of crystal clear glacier water running into the sea. There are many ...

Then, we learned how to twist fringes by hand, make a knotted fringe, add tassels and finally make Leno. We didn't finish the Leno so now we all have homework! We were working away when the man from the TV station arrived to film us. He made videos and took pictures and interviewed Sue (in Turkish) while we warped the loom, wound bobbins, and learned to weave with a fly shuttle. We will know tomorrow when and where ...

After breakfast, it was off to catch the dolmuş to Yeşilyurt to start our 3 days of learning to weave Turkish style. Zeynep meet us at the dolmuş stop and after a very quick stop at the weaving shop, we walked up to their weaving studio. The studio is in the courtyard of the home of their parents, Ismail and Sebahat. Her sisters, Ayşen and Nargihan, were there as well as Nargihan's children, Ismail and Elif and her father-in-law, Metin. It ...

... red roofed village with a small shiny domed mosque as center piece. Shortly after this village we made an obvious turn on the only through road. It was a dirt road and TomTom was besides himself. Our triange car was in a roadless void on the screen.

We continued and eventually reached an old village, many of its homes were made of locally found rocks. A few school kids were just being dropped off ...
