    ... locked and so was the hotel. We rang doorbells and knocked on gates but clearly this fancy accommodation was not a 24-hour one.

    So, without food, bikes or the opportunity to go back to bed, we just sat and waited. As I said earlier, today began with a lesson in patience.

    ... Opa's big purchase today was going to be shaving cream, but the pharmacy only carried a large expensive medicated brand.
