    We have just spent a wonderful time in Burgos, Northern Spain with our friends Maria and Manuel. Maria is from Burgos and Manuel is Mexican and they now live in Mexico City. David used to work with Manuel in Melbourne.

    They had been walking some of the Camino de Santiago which runs through Burgos and visiting for Maria's mothers 91st birthday celebration.

    ... changing from my long pants into shorts. Another lesson of the Camino...a blue sky can be deceptive when looking out through a window to gauge the day's weather. Nevertheless, I had the appropriate gloves, beanie, scarf and wind proof jacket to see me through. The first 10 kms took us up to another plateau through more crops and rocks; it was spectacular despite the freezing conditions. I thought my kneecaps had turned to discs of ice at one stage...     ... it is. Many pilgrims are ending their camino here, or are also starting. So a new camino family may develop. Hopefully as it's always fun meeting new family members. Tonight a light dinner and out of the city. Tomorrow,the start of the meseta. A long stretch of crop fields that many choose to skip on the camino. Some bus it, some rent bikes.
