    ... downtown Burgos, window shopping and sampling the local pinchos. GP found a restaurant purportedly having the best paella in Spain, so we had to give it a go ... It was a bit disappointing but the chicken salad was absolutely amazing. Haven't really described our food experience to date but it has primarily consisted of a 'daily' pilgrim's menu for a set fee usually €10 - €15. Included is a starter dish, a main entree, dessert, wine and water. ...

    ... made of wooden beads with a pilgrim shell. For some reason it really attracted my attention so I purchased one. When I asked the assistant she told me there were no more left and then she found the last one...was it meant for me? According to our group cynic Bert it wasn't meant for me at all because they have plenty of boxes of them out the back lol. The important thing is that it has meaning for me, and that's all that counts :)

    ... as we pushed really hard through. 11.5km in 1 1/2 hours. Yes we flew but it was solid concentration and it was sheer guts and determination to get to the Albergue and be dry, have a shower and enjoy the rest of the arvo!

    And we did! €5 for the night, €7 they do our washing, €2.5 bottle of wine, €6 for pizza. Hedley said he got really drunk here last year. Looks like he's in for a repeat though we are helping him along. Go ...

    ... Strange menu! Santiago de Compestella is the town where the walkers and bike riders all congregate after their 700k walk or ride, and the locals sell these amazing walking sticks with a Tettera cheese attached to it. Strange I know but thats what it is. Nice hotel and off to Aporto ...
