Animal care AKA cleaning

A travel blog entry by fruitarefriends

I have spent the past two weeks on a hotel/zoo building site. Which is on the way to becoming a holiday resort exclusively for disabled kids and their families. Basically I volunteer for 33hours a week and they provide me with food and shelter. I guess that seems like a lot to some but it“s only a short-term thing for me and volunteering is good for one“s soul (and CV). I came here because I knew I“d want a “break“ from the intensiveness of traveling. ...

... but doable after a few minutes of swearing and getting hit by waves. The beach itself was located hundreds of steps down from the road where there were cliffs all around you, pretty incredible spot! Such a private spot in fact that some people decided that it might be a nudist beach, we were quite happy to believe it was a regular beach. Sir Henry’s fort is another tourist attraction in Sagres so we made our way around it, ...

Noi comunque siamo in regola. Un ultimo giro per Faro, cosa che ci riserva due sorprese: la prima č l' incontro con una vecchia Fiat ...

    Location, location ...!

    from BARBADOS

We have just returned from a very relaxing weeks break at this hotel.

As stated in previous reviews, the hotel is in the best location in Vilamoura.

We had a sea view junior suite which was very nicely decorated, and comfortable. The bed was large but a little low and a bit 'firm' for our liking, but that's personal taste I'm sure.

We didn't once get disturbed by outside noises, once we were in our room we could have been the only guests in hotel, none of the usual disturbances of a large hotel.

We were on the second floor, and the view from the balcony was beautiful.

The room has tea/coffee making facilities, and all important ( to my daughter!!!) BBC1 on t.v.

The hotel was busy but we never felt crowded as the pool area is large and well spread out. No need to get up at the crack of dawn to 'reserve' a lounger.

Breakfast was included in our rate and was first class, with plenty of choice.

Lunch menu by the pool was a little limited, but there are so many places to eat nearby it isnt a problem.

The cold cloths offered in the heat of the day are a godsend, even if they do smell like apple juice.

Would stay at this hotel again.

    Excellent hotel

    from markpool

I really couldn't fault the hotel, the location is first class, choose you view, either overlooking the marina or a pool and sea view.

The rooms are spacious, queen size beds, sat. TV and have large balconies.

We were on a b+b basis so i can only comment on the breakfast, plenty of fresh fruit, juice and English breakfasts, no problem there.

The sunbathing area is huge, with loads of sunbeds set in nice gardens and direct access on to the beach if you prefer that.

The hotel lobby has free internet access so you can keep in touch with events at home and the weather etc.

The bars have night time entertainment and they do an excellent calypso coffee, just perfect for a nightcap.

So overall a good hotel, not cheap, but I very much doubt if there is a better one in Vilamoura, and yes we will be back.

    Very nice hotel

    from anonymous

I“ve been at Tivoli Marinotel at the beginning of April 2005 , and it was really nice. I would say that the location off the hotel is superb. Very good service , good facilities , wonderful golf desk and very profissional staff. I“m sure it was one off the best hotels i have been.

    Perfect weekend!

    from anonymous

This hotel is in a perfect location...shopping, food, casino, beach...everything you need in walking distance. Rooms were nice, but not a 5-star...maybe a 4 star...but worth the money we paid. Staff was nice. The A/C didnt work, but the weather was beautiful...good thing we had a room w/balcony. Lovely place overall...very happy and we will return.

Excellent 2 night stay at the Marinotel

    from pmccunn

Excellent hotel at an affordable price. Our standard room was a nice size, very comfortable bed and a good sized balcony that looked directly out onto the beach below and ocean beyond!

Excellent full breakfast was included in our rate.

    Only negatives were housekeeping staff. Room was immaculate but housestaff ignored "do not disturb" signs and interrupted a much needed nap on one day;

Failed to make up the bed and clean room until very late in the day our second day there, then of course came while we were trying to catch a nap.

Good Hotel - Shame about the food

    from sam2

The location of this hetel is perfect with fabulous views over the beach or harbour (depending which rooms you get). The rooms are well appointed & comfortable. The quality of food on half board option was very poor with limited choice & often cold. The a la carte restaurant was better but more costly. The staff were attentive throughout, until the Amway conference started when the hotel was full & they appeared unable to cope. Unfortunately, the grounds were ruined by an ENORMOUS marquee erected for the conference. The building of the marquee was very noisy & disruptive & spoilt our enjoyment cosiderably.

Incidentally, we found a stylish new bar on the harbour at Vilamoura where we enjoyed a quiet drink or two in the evening. I can recommend 'Baby Blue' (plays mainly Siantra music) It is only small but very welcoming & spotlessly clean.

    Room noise unacceptable

    from anonymous

The hotel was generally very good and the diving staff excellent. HOWEVER, we had a very good room and excellent views but at night the room shook with the noise from the bar below us.

This was EVERY night from at least 9.30 until midnight and I am sorry but this was unacceptable.

We had gone for a rest and this was not relaxing at all. I complained and the hotel did offer to move us but I did not see why we should have to forgoe the good views so we could sleep at night. We were on the 6th floor and I would guess the same would apply to those on the 4th floor.

    A wonderful Experience

    from anonymous

Have just enjoyed a fantastic 3 night stay at this wonderful hotel.

Everything from start to finish was just perfect!

All the staff were extremely polite, courteous and efficient - nothing was too much trouble. Enjoyed wondeful buffet breakfasts, afternoon coffee and mouthwatering cakes and a fabulous meal in the restaurant.

All the rooms have magnificent views over the beach or marina, although for the sun all day, the beach side is preferrable. Would highly recommend this hotel and will definately make a return trip.

    Loved the Tivoli Marinotel!

    from anonymous

This was one of the best hotels we've stayed at. The food was excellent, the rooms were superb and the staff were very courteous, polite and helpful. The hotel is also a beautiful building. We've been there twice now and would recommend it.

    Bad hotel

    from anonymous

just to tell that it is too expensive, staff very rude, the air conditioning didnt work, the cleaning of the room was very bad, 45 minutes to have breakfast, i ask several times to speak with the general manager and it wasn't any time availlable.paying 245 per day...

for a 5 stars with all of this, i will never return to this hotel.I stayed with my wife and my kid (4 years old) and they didnt permit that i take a coffee in the bar with my son.Nice view to the marina, it is the only good think that is ok for the hotel
