... ride a gondola. Nicholas was our gondola man and he took us on a path through the small waterways and narrow alleys of Venice. The narrow alleys are more romantic than riding on the grand canal itself which is always full of tourists. In the smaller alleys you can get more peace. You can imagine that you live in Venice and were out in your boat to get the groceries. We arrived in Venice Thursday the 13th. We were met at the marina by a fleet of water taxi's (it took 4 ) which took us up the Grand Canal of Venice. I was also hating all public transit in Italy by this point. After getting settled in, I went out to take some pictures of the Rialto Bridge, Grand Canal, and Piazza San Marco (the main square). Luckily the city was so beautiful that I forgot about my earlier troubles.
