Ahhhh Venice the perfect place for us to slow down our hectic pace, relax and enjoy the slow paced living of this incredible city. After a massive 2 days on the Cinque Terre we were both pretty stuffed and leg sore but managed the train trip from La Spezia with a few tight changes thanks to our first train running late. Instead of easing into the city over the next few days we hit the pavement running and saw all the major sites within that first ...

... in fact it could almost be a miracle....my husband finally found out, it is easier, quicker and smarter to ask someone for directions instead of thinking "google maps" is the bible of directions ! ... Canal. Plenty of good shopping, coffee and cake :) Walk to the restaurant for tea of lasagne for entree, roast beef for main, and cream caramel for dessert - another festival of overeating! Boat back to the mainland, bus to hotel, sorted rooms (that always takes half an hour), to our room at 9.45pm - close to a 19 hour day. Bit of a sleep in tomorrow, breakfast at 8am - woo ...

... almost an hour before - there was more banging and then the conductor came and said that the train was broken and they were waiting for instructions. Just when we had all decided to get off and catch the next train now due in 30 minutes (we had discussions with other passenegers and had worked out alternative connections. The whistle blew and the train headed off - apparently all fixed! Seeing that our arrival time was now 3 minutes after ...
