... had pasta at a restaurant when we could have had Maccas! Everybody knows that's all it takes to be highly cultured... We had a rough start to our Venice experience, with Jimbo's bike being stolen. We spent most of Saturday sorting out the police report and insurance claim. But afterwards, we did something highly cultured and actually went into Venice! With the rain pouring down on us, and our sadness at losing Jimbo's trusty steed, we weren't quite feeling the romance ...

... we could have crammed more people on that boat if we had really tried, but I'm glad that we did not. I am also _extremely_ glad that Lizzie didn't freak out and snap at somebody (me). ... barrier. A maze of terra cotta orange, rooftop patios and canals, it brings home just how small Venice is.

Sadly, that was largely it for me and Italy. I looked forward to it for so long but it's gone already. I just spent two nights in Trieste which I wasn't fussed about, before heading onto Ljubljana in Slovenia today. Trieste was only supposed to occupy one night but the single Sunday bus to Ljubljana was full yesterday so I had to mill around for ...

... against going out tonight (shock horror), I didn't get much sleep. Sarah had a massive night out and needed a little bit of care in the early hours of the morning, plus the couple in the cabin next door were having their own party... such is life on a Topdeck tour! SUNDAY 14 JULY Today we had a free day in Venice, meaning we had time to explore the area away from the mainland. The bus took us to the outside of the city where we were dropped off to catch ...
