On 9/23 we we planned to hike from Ardez to Scuol but we were soon bogged down on a steep slope consisting of mud, cow pies and sheep & goat droppings; not a pleasant undertaking. When we got past that we were on snow that had fallen yesterday. We used the opportunity to walk through the snow to clean our boots. This worked until we stepped into cow pies hidden by the snow! ... Thanella. It was very cloudy towards the top and it was getting late, so we didn't quite make the summit. After we rugged up and had a little rest we hiked down, found somewhere to park for the night and cooked up a curry for dinner. The boys had a beer while we played some cards, then we fall asleep to the sound of rain on the roof. They're expecting snow here (1300m) tomorrow! ...
