... well back in the UK and that the weather isn't too rubbish.

oh, the only other thing to say is that the place we are living is pretty cool, it's a proper appartment, not your usual chalet staff accommodation of bunk beds and room sharing. we've got ensuite! also got sky tv and, rather than driving up the motorway for 45 minutes to get to work each morning I have approximately a 5 minute walk through the snow!

... of fresh snow fell on Tuesday night. Visibility was perfect and the clear blue skies allowed the sun to shine brightly all day. The piste was perfectly groomed and those who felt adventurous enough to venture off-piste were rewarded with soft powder which was surprisingly deep in parts. I have a few pictures from that day which I have posted below and with more snow forecast for the next few days, hopefully we will get some boarding/skiing pics on here soon.

We met some friends on the snow-covered street *nd enjoyed * few drinks th*t w*rmed us inside despite the sub-zero temer*tures. Travel to Austria from Perth via Tokyo, Milan and Innsbruck is not recommended. To describe this route as a 'milk-run' would be an understatement of epic proportions. I calculated the total travel time to be somewhere in the vicinity of 30hrs (not including time spent in transit) so you can probably understand our relief when we arrived at our final destination in the town of St Anton, Austria.

After leaving Cortina in the morning, we drove into Austria and made a stop for a couple of hours in Imst to ride the alpine coaster there. Unlike the summer slide near the Salzberg Lakes that we rode, this one was on rails and was the longest in Europe at 3.5km or 2.1m. All of us rode it once ...

I flew into St Anton Austria on March 20th and for a few days skiing with my old college friend, Mike, and a few other mates from Ireland who also happened to be in town.

... go all out for desserts, and it shows…but they also walk a lot, so they can eat like this. When we returned from dinner, it was quite late and we have an early start on Monday... we are off for Lucerne. (Before I forget, the music during dinner was absolutely wonderful. Two young fellows were playing local Swiss mountain music on accordions and my feet just couldn’t stay still. Maggie was the only other one of Our Group who went with us.) We had a great time.
