    ... horrific ones too. There is an English theatre, it's closed at the moment but outside is a cupboard with novels in and on it a sign saying that they are free to take. So after two very messy hours in the kitchen, I had a lemon meringue pie with a crust that was too thick and buttery (the substitution for shortening is butter, but 25% more of it), and a meringue topping that was too flat. I was never good at making crusts. I also had to hand-whip the meringue since we don't have a mixer. Brandon's tells me it was good, but I think he is just being nice because of the blood sweat and tears that went into it. He's a good husband...
