... and Antony had a falling out and a battle ensued between them which Antony lost. Octavian declared himself Emperor and thus the end of the Republic of Rome ensued.

However, another important event in 49 AD occurred when Apostle Paul founded the first Christian church on European soil here. Paul had traveled here through Ephesus from Antioch. He met a wealthy merchant woman, Lydia, who sold purple cloth. He converted her and her ...

Around 49 AD, Paul, Timothy and Silvanus climbed the Roman ‘Via Egnatia’, from the port of Neapolis (today’s Kavala) to Philippi. ... meet some women, however he does not say they were praying but only that they had simply gathered there. After joining the group, Paul and the others encounter one woman in particular, a devout believer in God named Lydia. She was a wealthy woman who was a seller of expensive purple cloth, but she was receptive to the words of the apostle. Luke records that “as she listened to us, the Lord opened her heart, and she accepted what Paul was saying” (v. 14 NLT). There ...

... want the comforts of home? You stay home.

Great consistency of Babooshka and the Engineer always being last for the bus. U/K and the Smoker aren't coming, a bit odd when one weighs some time in Thassos compared to a full day in Kavala.

Decided I would go for a dip in the Aegean but that meant beach safety consideration. Just took enough money for the day and only the camera will be of value in the backpack [nil of course happened].

It was an hour to get ...
