... the middle of the river. A few of them are privately owned but anyone can use the others (government owned) for recreational purposes for up to 2 weeks at a time. There are lots of little turtles sitting on submerged logs but the take a dive when they spot us - we have to be quick with the camera. 45 years ago there was only one breeding pair of bald eagles in the area due to DDT. As DDT has now been banned and more ...
Once we had breakfast we headed off to do a wildlife Mississippi boat cruise ....the river is huge with many islands in the middle ...the river goes for about 2900 miles...from north to way down south. There are 3 rivers that connect ...Mississippi, Black and Minisotta rivers. Very impressive. We didn't have the paddle steamer ..as expected... But a small boat.was ok ..just not so grand. We seen big blue herons, ...
... blessed to have had parents support me in all these crazy adventures I decide to take! Not only has my mom traveled half way across the country to move me to Sandpoint, Idaho for an internship but they are trying to hold themselves together as they send me off to a foreign country for a semester! Couldn't have asked for better parents to be this supportive through everything!

... Emmaus conference. (And of course, the purpose grew from there.)
We were taken in a rented 20 passenger van from the Emmaus conference to the church building where the IBCM Hispano was being held and were immediately greeted with hugs from some of the girls on the Emmaus team (there to serve the meals), missionary friends from Paraguay, more friends from Peru and Colombia, and people we'd met in Uruguay. What fun!
