Historical Traveler Reviews of Timhotel Palais Royal Paris

Simple, small and central

from A TripAdvisor Member
This hotel is located in a quiet street, 10 mins walk from the Louvre. The staff were pleasant and helpful and the breakfast was o.k. The rooms are very small indeed which did not bother us as we spent most of our time pacing the streets of this beautiful city.

Great location

This ia a clean and basic hotel which was just what we needed for our 2 night stay. The location of the hotel was perfect. Just 5 minutes walk to the Louvre. Would definitely stay there again.

Clean, centrally located

Timhotel Palais Royal Louvre is a great deal close to the heart of Paris. Right off the Place des Victoires and located near lots of shopping and restaurants, this is a great place from which to explore Paris. Yes, the room was very small, but exceptionally clean with a great shower.

Management moved us to Timhotel Louvre without informing us

Booked online and confirmed with credit card. When we arrived, we were informed there were no rooms and we would have to move to Timhotel Louvre. After much discussion, manager agreed to call cab and pay fare. The room at Timhotel Louvre was a dump and had not been cleaned. Before we left Timhotel Palais Royal Louvre, I insisted the manager not move us when we returned later the same week for a six night stay. She made notes in the computer and our next stay there was satisfactory. As I was checking out, a woman checking in was informed they had no rooms and were moving her to Timhotel Louvre. I think this is an unacceptable practice and it appears they do this regularly. You need to be aware of this if you're going to book this hotel. It is difficult to make changes when you land in a foreign city and don't have access to internet or phone directories to find alternate places to stay.

Clean, quiet and centrally located

In September 2004, my husband and I spent 8 nights at this Timhotel. Our room was clean, quiet and yes, small. If you are looking for a modest place to stay in a great location this is it. The hotel is within a few blocks of the Louvre and is centrally located to many sites.

The staff was polite and spoke enough English to get by. Our room had a queen-sized bed, desk, chair and wardrobe and just enough room to walk around the furniture. Our window faced a large interior terrace. Although we had little direct light, it was very quiet.

A self-serve breakfast was available, but we found many more interesting options in area restaurants. Internet access is also available, but wildly expensive compared to internet cafes.

For the price, My husband and I were very pleased. If you stay, don't miss a dinner at Bistro Vivienne around the corner.

Excellent location, smallest rooms

Last year I spent 3 nights in this hotel. The position is excellent, just in the centre of the town, but the rooms are the smallest I've ever seen. The shower is so small that You can't move in it and the bathroom is not much more large.

The breakfast is normal, nothing special.

You can find many other hotel chippest than this!, in the same position!

We were delighted by the Timhotel

My wife and I spent over a week at the hotel in early June and were very pleased. The location is as central as you can get; 10-15 minute walks in any direction lead to the Louvre, Palais Royal, Notre Dame, Saint Eustache Cathedral and Forum des Halles, Opera and the market street of Montorgueil. Metro stop is a short block away. The room was small but very comfortable, with clean and comfy bed, spotless bath and toilet facilities (with bathtub), and since our room was interior, as silent as a tomb, with no interior noise at all! The staff was always friendly, and even let us store food items that needed refrigeration back in their kitchen area. And to top it off, 50 yards away, across the tiny Place des Petits Peres, was a great boulangerie, Au Panetier, where we had coffee and wonderful pastries every morning, with the most cheerful and friendly service. Vive La France!!! (and the Timhotel PRL!)

Excellent Location

I stayed at the hotel twice in 2002 and friends have stayed there at least 4 times. At all times, the welcome was warm and the quality consistent. I would agree with the other reviews. The location is the best thing. The shower is more than miniscule. I would definitely recommend this hotel, and have not found any comparable values with such a good location in Paris. There are several great places to eat nearby if you search carefully, and even a mini-market open on Sundays nearby. It is an excellent value as long as you realize that the rooms will be very small (not surprising in Paris.)

Central location, clean & funtional.

Excellent central location for most major sites, Louvre is only a 10 mins walk away. Room small & basic but clean with comfortable bed, shower/ bathroom is tiny. Can be noisy at times if window open as traffic passes. Most staff pleasant and with a mixture of my very basic french & their english we got by. Plenty of shops/cafes/bistros nearby. Overall for the location & price i would recommend it.

Great Location, simple comfort

from takelson
This is a small hotel right one short block from the Bourse, a five minute walk from the Louvre . The room was small but the double bed firm and comfortable, sheets crisp and clean, towels not too thin, and hot water was hot. No refrigerator in room. Shower stall was a little small, so try to get a room with a bathtub if you can. Breakfast ,simple yet adequate, was included in our VERY cheap package from Air France Holidays.
