On Saturday, Eliana and Isaiah had soccer practice, so Sariah and I headed to Starbuck's for a steamer/coffee and played cards (she picked out the deck on the way there). Then we walked around the new Toys R Us on our way to Subway for an early lunch. Although China really doesn't celebrate Halloween, the mall was decorated.

... standing, or lying down. I am not looking forward to the plane ride home. I will be getting a letter from my Dr. here to give to Korean Air when I check in. They will do their best to get me a seat with more leg room or by an empty seat. There are no seats available to upgrade to another class.

We had guests for dinner a couple of nights and last night went to a hui (pronounced hway) Muslim restaurant in our neighborhood and then came back to play Ticket to Ride. Today we are bringing the kids to a birthday party at the milk and cookies coffeeshop and will do some shopping. The amazing thing is that I can walk anywhere and I don't hurt!

In most of the apartment buildings in China, the heat comes on Nov. 1st and goes off April 1st - it doesn't matter if it is cold before or after that. So the apartment is really warm during the day when the sun is out, and then really cools off at night. So we dress in layers! It is citywide steam heat from coal, so when the heating season is on, you can see the huge smokestacks spewing out the pollution!
Yesterday I took the subway to a shopping area close to the old apartment. I happened upon a medical expo and there were many booths set up selling different items. I found a couple of things there and then wandered through the other small shops. It is like a flea market with individual booths and you can bargain. I did on a couple of items by ...
