Last morning in the mountains. Open up the patio door to soak up the fresh mountain air and sun. Off to a pancake breakfast. Lineup out the door...Pancake Pantry...the place to be! Walking through the Gatlinburg town reminded me of Bath...quaint and charming. Cobblestone ...
Happy 4th of July! Always seem to help the Americans celebrate their day! Off to ziplining through the Great Smoky Mountains. Beautiful views. Ziplining was a great experience! Met a guard chicken! Headed home for a nice simple dinner of grilled cheese sandwiches. Hit the spot! Spent the evening playing cards, competing against each other in the arcade, and soaking our aching bodies in the hot tub! What a great ...
... A for a restful holiday! Just heading off to the midnight July 4th parade. Interesting parade...lots of coin tossing onto the road - kids going nuts, empty schoolbus, lots of military, and...an 'interesting' ride home! Looking forward to another adventure ...
... first traffic jam in Corbin, Kentucky. An accident caused a 45 minute delay. Our next traffic jam also delayed us 45 minutes in Lexington. Here there were 5 accidents all within a 4 mile span of highway. Eventually we made it through. Kylee did well on the trip home and Kaleb was awesome in the backseat, feeding her and keeping her occupied. We arrived home at 10:30, about two and a half hours behind our schedule but we made it home ...
... drove a lot today. Logan did a 5 hour stint, the last 3 driving alone as I opted for the comfort of Eric's truck.
As soon as we were checked in, it was back on the road for a short trip to Cracker Barrel for dinner. We returned to the rooms with everyone full and ready to relax.
Another 500 mile day scheduled for tomorrow, so I am getting some sleep.
Life is good.

Historical Traveler Reviews Timbers Lodge Motel Pigeon Forge
I thought I had planned my vacation to the smoky mountains well. I relied on the internet, having never been in the area before. I researched several hotels and motels, and found what I thought to be a lovely way to enjoy being more cabin like yet have all the modern conviences. This was called Timber Log Motel. On the internet it looked lovely, like a log cain, but with all the convenience a motel has to offer. So I reserved my room in advance and upon arrival paid cash for the remainder of my stay. The office was clean and had log furniture and I couldn't wait to get to my room, which was so beautiful on the internet. This room was disgusting!!!!!!! The carpet was soooo filthy I wouldn't walk on them barefooted and the tub was black on the bottom. The chairs had stains all over them and the windows were dirty. I immediately went to the desk and asked for a refund, which I was denied, my deposit was non refundable regardless of their fraudulent advertising on the internet. They would mail me the remainder of my payment, even though I had just handed them cash. So I was stuck for 3 days and nights in this filthy nasty motel! I was so upset, I went next door to the hotel across the street. The man there was very kind and told me to call the police, which I did, and they were no help. The man advised me to call the department of tourism, which I did, they said they couldn't do anything for me. I would have to file a complaint and they let the business know I filed. This department knew the motel owner by name. My experience in Pigeon Forge is a negative one. I the consumer, was very disappointed and let down that no one would help. I think Timberslog Motel should be forced to update their advertising on the internet, so people can see how dirty and disgusting their rooms are!! In a room across from me, their air conditioning didn't work, they were given a fan. WOW! What a nightmare.
This is a quiet and friendly motel. The loft units are very nice for families with a bedroom/bathroom/TV downstairs and a bedroom/bathroom/TV in the loft area. The kitchen was a nice size and clean. My kids loved having their own bedroom, while I could still keep a very close eye on them. I have to admit that lately I have been staying at motels where children have been demolishing the place (writing on walls/furniture), as well as keeping me up nights (running around/screaming). However, this motel seemed to attract more upscale families where children were well behaved and adorable (like mine), as were all the cute pets. Close to lots of shopping. Loved the ducks waddling around!
Real Log Cabin
If you want to stay in a real log cabin this is your place. I've read some of the comments and have not found any of the problems expressed on our visit. It may not be for everyone since it is a log cabin. We have traveled with and without our pet and find this hotel the best for pet friendly properties and way above average for non pet facilities.
My family recently took yet another trip the BEAUTIFUL Great Smoky Mountains, but our motel was less than beautiful. We stayed at the Timbers Log Motel. The only good thing was they allow dogs. My two children were in our room less than 2 hours and their socks were black as coal. They offered after some delay and about 25 calls to the front desk to move us to a room above one that the ceilings was molded in. We declined. But we were told that they would give us our money back on day two we were staying 5, but they would have to mail it to us. Didn't have the extra cash to stay somewhere else. Just wanted to make people aware especially those with children of my concernes so that no one else had to go through this. We did have to wear our shoes all 5 days we were there. Thanks for hearing me out.
We booked this hotel because of the log cabin look and because it is a pet friendly motel but it was not a nice place to stay. We were put in a room on the first floor at the end of the building(room 101) which has a very busy road to an outlet mall right next to it and the traffic noise was horrible until about 11pm but then started up again at 6am.
We stayed here 10 years ago and it was fine. It's really went down over the years. For the price they charge they could at least keep the rooms up to date. We'll stay somewhere else next time.
Looked fine to me....
We stayed there a while back and everything was fine. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room seemed fine and everything worked just fine.
Don't be fooled
Arrived at our room and found the trash from several rooms had been left against our door. The linens from the other rooms were left on our doorstep as well. We entered the room and found it had a strong smoke smell and we had requested a non-smoking room. I am very thankful that we had only planned one night at this place. The trash and linens were still against our front door as we left.

We attempted to stay at the Timbers Log. The first thing you notice when opening the door to the room was a wet dog smell. Of course, it was raining when we arrived. The carpet was stained and in dire need of replacement. The sofa had a slight, but unmistakable, scent of urine. The bathroom drain was full of long black hair. It only took a few minutes to receive a full refund and we found lodging else where. We had the impression they were used to this. No excuses were given, but an apology for the motel not being to our liking.
