Fernie fun in the snow

... a few week early for that. Just out of town is the main ski resort of the town, we went up there to see if there were any good views of the local mountains. There were some good views, but the highlight was watching Adam fall face first into the snow whilst trying to jump over a tiny ditch. Best of all was I caught the whole thing on video, that’s £250 from You’ve Been Framed!

That night we went for dinner at a tiny restaurant in town ...

Heading back to the US

Crossed the Rockies, left Jasper National Park behind as we travel through the Kootenay region, past Fort Steele and stop at Cranbrook. Hope the truck is ready as promised tomorrow, we will drive to Kalispell once more and re-visit Eureka MT on the way. What gorgeous weather we have been granted!

Fort Steele

... 46 year's ago and at that time there were a couple of people still living here but that it was a ghost time and a time warp with the local buildings still standing. Now it is a cultural sight and the local people rather than let it go to ruin
had somehow kept it exactly in the style from its heyday and turned it into a
very tasteful local tourist attraction where tourists walk round and visit all
the locals attractions of a western town from bar room saloon to ...

My old home, ski bum memories

... on my ass, last night we stocked up on veg, but to be honest, it's awesome to be setting up our stove and cooking lunch and dins daily. The amount of food we are pushing in is incredible. My legs are well ready for this rest day. Tender to the touch they are still getting use to the riding. I think I’ll be going to the local pool tonight to spar bath them. They have a lot more to come. So far we have ridden about 300 miles, so, about 2500 left.

Leaving Fernie

... This is a&n bsp;5 metre long steel pole that we need to concrete into the ground. Once the concrete was in the ground we lifted the po le into place. The first time we tried the pole slipped and clocked me on the chin and bounced off my shoulder but did&nbs p;disprove the theory that I have a glass chin (Adam that was for you). Apart from the little bit of work around Simon's place that I did ...

The Canadian Rockies

... and go over to Fernie for some more snowboarding. The car was about $300 for 2 days which sharing the price was not that bad between the 4 of us, still a little expensive but worth the cost. We got to Fernie late at night just in time to go over to the local pub for a few cheeky drinks. Unfortunately, in the morning it was raining pretty hard so when we started we were drentch and cold. We then hiked up the mountain, past the clouds where the ...

Happy Australia Day!!

It was unusual Australia Day for us - firstly skiing during the day and then joining our neighbours in a game of cricket in the parking lot - actually it should have been called ice cricket - the pitch was a sheet of ice and it added a new dimension having catchers lunging for the ball with some very impressive stacks! There were also a brave few who were very committed to having an outside bbq in the ...

From Springtime Sun to a Winter Wonderland

Chris and I came to Fernie for the snow. The best powder in Canada were the claims. But for 15 long days it was not to be. We arrived in town on January 21st and for two weeks there was not a single day with a high below zero. In fact most days it was more than 5 degrees and beautifully sunny. While this made for some great views of the mountainous landscape it was hardly why we were spending a winter in the Rockies. While praying to The Griz for snow (A ...
