... harvest and the vast number of crates waiting to be filled. We also noted Fiesta Foods a large Hispanic grocer chain doing a booming business. Even down south we don't have these stores. We crossed the Columbia River into Oregon and were impressed with the beautiful ranching areas. We finally ended up at Pendleton a delightful old west type town from the early 19th century that had quite a lot of industrial plants including its 1909 woolen mill.

... 45 miles away and went to the Heritage Station Umatilla County Museum. The exhibits tell the story of the American Indians, explorers and pioneers in this area. Next we went to the Pendleton Woolen Mills and took the factory tour. It was so interesting to see how the various blankets and rugs are made.
