The day D was the most ill was also the day it rained solid. It had started during the night with torrential rain and just kept up. The thunder kept rolling around the hills all day. We had several blackouts, the longest was for about 15 minutes, however after the last ...

Rather than suffer through a cramped and non air-conditioned marshrutka for six hours, the more common form of local transport, I managed to book a relatively expensive ride in a private shuttle offered by a local tour agency. ... tops.

The smooth highway snaked down the green mountain then broadened as we got to the open valley. The highway was in new and in great condition so we were surprised to see the carcass of a recently rolled Marshrutka down the hill off the edge of the road. Our driver saw it too and became a little conflicted. Should he continue to drive as fast as he could or back off a bit?
