... 4 people had chosen to stay behind today after feeling a bit on the sick side. Trudy has been unwell for the past 2 days with a fever while others have stayed in bed to mend sore throats, headaches, sprained ankles, and weak knees. Hopefully they improve by tomorrow, as we leave the hotel at 7 am to go to Hangzhou. Even the hotel kitchen staff is coming in an hour early to prepare breakfast just for our group. Talk about service!

... I was asked to be photographed by at least 7 different people.

In the late afternoon I took the subway to the train station where I was to meet my travel companion. The subway in Nanjing and Beijing is soooo much nicer than New York. More modern, easier to use, cleaner, safer, and a smoother ride. And on top of that, it only cost about 40 cents to ride it. While I was waiting - I walked around a ...

... so I was going to miss school and I would have to wait all day in Nanjing for my travel conpanion to arrive. Still it wasn't that big a deal because I wanted to see more of Nanjing and we had to go to Nanjing anyway to catch the train to Beijing. Because I had to go to Nanjing early in the morning I needed to pack before I went to sleep. And on top of that, the hotel informed us that we wouldn't have electricity in our rooms ...
