After a very interesting flight where I was the only western person inside the aircraft, I finally arrived in China landing in Tianjin. The cheapest entry point in the Beijing area. From here, I'm only 1hr away from the capital on a 'bullet train'.

    ... too much.

The restaurant was along the waterfront and we walked for a bit on the pedestrian pathway along the water. There are several footbridges in the city that cross the Hai River, and each is a different architectural style. There is an older-style European bridge with statue-topped columns, a sundial shaped bridge, a bridge that is similar in style to the Millennium bridge in London, and a bridge that looks straight out of the Bridges of Madison County. It ...
