... and not really worth seeing. Also, I took pictures on my phone that were (unbeknown to me) tiny and in black-and-white. After the 10 minutes at the temple, we walked 30 minutes in the biting cold back to a main road so we could grab a bus into the town.

We took a taxi into the TEDA district to look around (she took us to the wrong spot) and, after walking around to look at some less than exciting buildings, we went into an Irish ...
Tanggu, Tianjin, China baphometdemonA couple of months have past since our last little adventure and the throes of a day to day job have enthralled me for the moments. I do feel, however, the often little tug to wander streets I haven't walked and to places I have not yet gazed. And so, for this weekend, the two of us decided to go to the close coastal city of Tanggu to see there what it had to offer. Of ...
Tianjin, Tianjin, China baphometdemon... to start with, but then Tanggu and TEDA. Didna shoot 'em yet, sorry. Betcha somebody did if the curiosity's killing you. I planned on the penultimate stop, looked closest to the port. Exhibition Center. Nothing but cabs and an Exhibition Center. Sadly dead. Exhibition ended yesterday. Wonder wander, pedestrian access is unfinished. This area still under construction. Wander wonder back. Around the other side. Out fifth ...
Tianjin, Tianjin, China beastly... of work to eat around all the bones in a skull is amazing, truly a work of dedication.

After the duck head place, we walked a long time and eventually came to a park in north Tianjin called 'Beining.' The park itself was quite large, with lots of attractions and amusement rides and even a couple miniature zoos, but very few people. I actually felt sorry for most the vendors here. The ...
Tianjin, Tianjin, China baphometdemonOctober 1 I had the day off for the Celebration of Chinese National Day. It was the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Peoples Republic of China. I used this time to explore more of Tianjin. I did a lot of walking and sweating but it was worth it. Enjoy the Photos.

Blake
Tianjin, Tianjin, China blakemason... time off so it's not really that much time off, but great for a trip.

For this trip I traveled to Chengde county to stay with my gal's parents and see the mountain's of China.

Wednesday night after work I took the bus out to Tianjin city and we went out to dinner and packed for the trip.
Tianjin, Tianjin, China baphometdemon... these 2 guys came to our table and spun the noodles in the air to stretch the dough and then they put them in your pot. It was pretty cool. The pics from dinner only include about half the group cause some ditched out because of the rain and they had to ride their bicycles home.

And yes we had a private room at no extra cost for dinner.

Blake
Tianjin, Tianjin, China blakemasonI went to dinner at a pretty nice seafood restaurant. I picked the food from aquariums on the main floor of the place and they cook it and bring it to your table which is upstairs. I went with a JV (joint venture) Team member and the Mexican team.

We had Chicken, Pork, Green beans, 2 kinds of shrimp, fish, and a crab. It only came to about 10 US dollars per person.

Enjoy thee Pics,
Blake
Tianjin, Tianjin, China blakemason... picture and it had begun to catch fire. Within 3 minutes the entire situation had been extinguished and the police were arresting or tracking the dispersing students. I wondered if the picture of Mao had been replaced since then, maybe in the night, or how many of these huge photos of Mao they had waiting back there. It felt like one of those penguins from the movie "Madagascar" should pop up from under the storm sewer lid and say "you didn't see anything" then close the lid as he heads below.
Beijing, China whereugoingTianjin is a "small" city of almost 9 million, about an hour and a half away from Beijing. I wanted to see somewhere else in China apart from Beijing, and this was my only real chance. the train there was pretty cool , one of those double decker ones like in Holland. The announcements were quite funny - "the journey will begin with the help of some soothing music", whilst later on, they showed a cartoon of a man cutting off shark funs in a ...
