10th Having checked in we wandered around Sa Pa accompanied by two girls in their traditional dress intent on selling us something, we did eventually buy a couple of things and bought them a drink in a local coffee house. Sapa region is the Hoàng Liên Son range of mountains which dominates the district, which is at the eastern extremity of the Himalayas. It used to be a hill station for the French and reminded us of Shimla in India except here we ...

I ...

If you have had enough of the chinese cultures in Jianshui, but have a few more days to spare, you can take a trip out of town to MengZi (蒙自), the next city some 100+ km away to the East.

... pains by the end, but I used my medical knowledge to diagnose muscular strain rather that a heart attack.

On the finished side of the bridge, workmen looked at us as if we were aliens, having no idea where we had come from. Mikey told them to hurry up building their bloody bridge and they laughed. They indicated that we could make it to a tiny village 12 miles from Manhao, but couldn’t tell us what happened after that. We could at least see there was another ...
