Moved to the commercial shopping part of Beijing today, this is more the Beijing I imagined. Never seen so many shops, market's and people. Jodie was well and truly in her element! One night's stay here before we join the trip tomorrow and change hotels again.

We hadn't read or researched anything on China at all (which …

3rd - 8th Sept It took me a whole day to get to Beijing from Ho Chi Minh. I ended up arriving just after midnight so I couldn't be bothered to head into the city centre to try and find a hostel. I ended up finding some comfy seats in the airport and slept there for a good few hours. Early in the morning I woke up and decided to try and find my …

The move from the Hostel to this much comfier hotel was welcomed by the both of us, however it was sad to not be in the same place as Steve and Zoe.

Zoe was leaving this morning so we met up to see her off and then headed to the famed Summer Palace 13km NE of the forbidden city.

This was the summer residence of the emperor and …

This hotel is a great place to stay in Beijing, as it's location is great (only a 15 min walk to tianamen square, forbidden city and the heavenly gate) it's got great staff and is very clean with some decent sized rooms, beds and clean sheets!!!

Major drawbacks, are the price of the internet and the fact that it's a stone throw from the most sterile, boring place in Beijing - the shopping district!!!
