... t even work as it was built too high up in the fog. What was cool is that we saw this beach in a little bay surrounded by cliffs that we thought would be cool to visit. So we hiked down and the waves were monstrous and was a nice little hike. The Cape of Good Hope was also a dud and we just took a picture with the sign and bolted. On our way back though we stopped at a point where they had bunch of African Penguins which were cute and nice to see. The next day I got a ...
Windhoek, Namibia mike_bright... contrast to the immigration officials at Skyharbour airport!<br> Arrived at Jo'berg, was met by my friend Schalk, a wonderful person I met while working at the University of Pretoria 10 yrs ago. Off we went to his house where his wife Hennriette was waiting and we had a Braai (BBQ), a few beers, and lots of really good conversation and caught up on 10 yrs of time gone by. Schalk dropped me off the next morning at Jo'berg airport and I caught my flight to Windhoek, and then a taxi to ...
Windhoek, Namibia dwfromuk... liberal economic policy (free-market, no goverment intervention, every man for himself). SWAPO has transformed from a Liberation Movement into a Namibian status quo. It's so sad to see SWAPO still be a majority party because Namibians who don't know any better are hopeful that one day SWAPO will transform the country into the thriving place it could've been. SWAPO will ...
Windhoek, Namibia jkbenzschawel... onto the devils chair. We we sitting just centimetres away from death by the 120m drop over the falls. Crrrrazzzzy. This was the most awesome way to experience Vic falls as whilst taking it all in you're getting completely drenched by the spray. During the afternoon we watched some of our friends bungee - Liz managed to scream more than all four jumpers put together. Next day, left Zambia crossing into Botswana via foot & mouth control. Everything was going very well ...
Windhoek, Namibia nixandlizPreface: I tried uploading pictures earlier this morning but the internet café in Walvis Bay was broken so pictures will have to wait until South Africa... Sorry. So the ship is just now leaving our port in Walvis Bay, Namibia. I have to say that this was the port I was the least excited for on the entire trip, but it turned out to be better than Brazil. While staying in a hostel in the capital I was talking with a girl from Israel. She said that something is only fun if it ...
Windhoek, Namibia jpcaseySeptember 2008 I love travels and have visited some places with a lot of surprises and encounters... Mexico and its amazing civilization, California and its way of life, Spain and its history, Italy and its pasta (!), Tunisia and its desert, Morocco and its mountains, Vienna and its music, London and its shops (I know, there are other things...), Copenhagen and its colored houses, Switzerland and its chalets... I truly ...
Windhoek, Namibia ludivine.mornet... of these clay bricks contrasts wonderfully with the surrounding red sand of the Kalahari Desert. The name eningu stands for porcupine after the large spiny creatures that visit the lodge after dark to eat the scraps that are put out. Eningu Clayhouse is located in the midst of the Namibian bush savannah and it seems far away from the bustle of Windhoek even though it was only 65km to the airport from here. There is a large swimming pool with whirlpool, a rooftop ...

Windhoek, Namibia karkailija... They are provided with education, counseling, medical care and shelter. In return, they make various crafts and learn business management skills. The women I met were positive and upbeat. One of the woman I chatted with was working in their gift shop and was telling me about all of the items she likes. Finally when I asked her about a particular colour of an item, she said to me she doesn't know because she is blind. I would have never ...
Windhoek, Namibia robthebruce... We prayed that night and woke up the next morning to find it worked straight away, praise God! Our favourite memories: Trekking up Dune 45 at 6am just after sunrise to see the amazing colour changes that the sun cast on the sand dunes around. We had to leave our campsite at 5am to drive the 40 miles to the dunes. Getting stuck in the sand on the 4x4 'road' (soft sand track) heading back from Dead Vlei. A German couple stopped to help us out ...
