Reno deserves a better entry than this, with more pictures.
They are on my other laptop, which is at home... stay tuned.

West Wendover is in Nevada.
Wendover is in Utah.
Really now, are there two states that could be more different? And they are neighbors?
What are the odds? Oh, to figure that you'd better make sure you're on the Nevada side of the border. :-)
Today we drove over 500 miles to northwest Nevada. I will never again complain about the ride to my sister Margaret's. Today's drive was mostly desert, scrub, more desert and more scrub. We left Pacifica/San Francisco where it was about 55 degrees and really foggy. Soon it was back to the desert and 90 degrees. Tomorrow we are scheduled to reach Yellowstone.
Elko, Nevada, United States sgiordano... breaks of sunshine before another round of storms.
now in Nevada for the night, we decided to do this entry tomorrow, just chill and go to bed early, but I began to think that it was extremely bright for 9:00. Vanessa picked up her phone and we realized that we passed through into the Pacific time. So that extra hour gave us the time to keep you up to date.
Tomorrows Reno, NV...
... once in hopes of riding on their track but it was closed for maintenance the one day we went there because of an upcoming race the following weekend.
From here we are headed to Elko, NV and then on to Jackson Hole, WY. That will be another long drive so we better get some shuteye. :P
... morning at 9:00 am traveling towards Cheyenne, Wyoming but took a diversion through the Rockies on highway 287 ending in Laramie, Wy. What a visual treat that was. Spectacular country and a very pleasant drive. Laramie however was a disappointment, kind of a cow pie town (please don't tell anyone you know from Laramie I said that). We had lunch there which was OK and then headed for Rock Springs, Wy. Some of the landscape along the way ...

Elko, Nevada, United States studioizar... that you are greeted by a large gravel parking lot with a bunch of posts that provide power and water(see picture). We were so tired that it did not matter. I went to the bar and had a cold Bud and thats when I found out about Wells. We did very little at this place but we decided that we would get up early and go right through to Reno as the thought of spending another night in some isolated spot in the middle of Nevada held very little appeal.
Elko, Nevada, United States shiplingDean: We decided to stop off in Salt Lake City in order to break up the travel from Yellowstone to San Francisco, spending just over a day in the city that is the center of the Mormon religion (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints). We checked out the main city sights, including the Mormon temple square, which included a guided tour of some of the main Mormon buildings. It was all very interesting but not for Alex and I (with us both being quite opinionated on religion).
