The morning came quickly, and though we were moving pretty slow, we had to take advantage of the sunshine in Humboldt!!
Patrick's Point is one of my favorite places in the area. It's a state park, where you can go hiking and camping. It's literally a place where the forest meets the sea. My particular favorite spot in the park is Wedding Rock. Clearly, it's a beautiful place, but I really feel it's full of positivity as well. All I know is that w...

Hey everyone,
I made it back from Hong Kong to San Francisco today on a 12 hr. non-stop flight. My adventure through China was something I will always remember and I hope that you enjoyed reading little tid-bits from my experiences there.

It rained all night again. It was raining heavily this morning. Weather.com did not say anything favourable about the day. The hiking we had originally planned in the Redwoods had to be shelved because it also involved a nine mile drive along a dirt track. Visions of being bogged and stuck in Crescent City again did not sound like a good idea. Over breakfast, we tossed around possible new itinerary ideas. We could not head through the ...
Chico, California, United States cdcassHey everybody! This is my official travel blog for my backpacking adventure through China. I am all packed up and will be flying out on Sunday. I am only taking a large travelling backpack which contains everything I need for the next 2 months. My first ...
Paradise, California, California, United States michaelsavage... can't spend more time elaboration right now! Once again leaving is a sad thing... it's brilliant to see friends, but horrible when it comes to the goodbye part. I keep hoping that maybe one day I'll stumble across a bucket (read: a boat load) of gold bullion and I'll be able to fly in all the people I love into once place at one time and have the best party ever known to man. Ahhh dreams are free!! Time to get me on a plane and get to Portland.
Chico, California, United States akeakekiakaha... a 45 minute wait in the sacramento bus station. Hmmm. Not quite as nice as SF, but still not 3rd world standards, so all good. It was a little uncomfortable when an Obese man passed out drunk in front on the doorway, and more so when he came to and got on our bus. Along with the guy that was as high as a kite and telling me all about his parole officer, just prior to his eyes rolling back in his head and his passing out for the remainder of the journey. This bus was packed and ...
Chico, California, United States akeakekiakaha... where we stop for sandwiches and let the dogs have a run. We are all out of our coaches and we have a picturesque view of Mt. Shasta. Road travel is good with minimal traffic and a sunny day. We press on to Corning getting in at about 4:00. We are at the back of the casino with full hookups but no cable. Very clean however strong winds. Quite evening and I make a stir fry for Pat and myself. As this the third fairly long day we take it easy in the ...
Corning, California, United States shipling... pharmacy to get it filled. How often does your doctor give you a ride to the pharmacy? So now I'm on antibiotic ear drops. Thank you, Herman! We went by their son Stan's to visit after picking up my prescription. He was getting ready to take his wife Sherry to a specialist the next day. She's battling cancer. Breast cancer metastasized and she now has three brain tumors. I promised I would be praying for her.
Chico, California, United States graybeardIt's here, and it's finally kicked into realizatoin that I'll be leaving at the end of this week. After 5 days of goodbyes and what was supposed to be packing, i find that i have a total of 5 things in my suitcase and have only had the time to visit about half the friends i wanted to before i left. For some, it is a bit of a finaly good ...
Chico, California, United States davidofcaliSo we made our way through Yellowstone and passed the Boiling River and LaDuke springs that were inaccessible due to high river flow. Chico Hot Springs resort awaited us in Montana, our room reminded me of the 1900's home I just moved out of on Mapleton street in Boulder. So it was a resort, yes, but not too fancy, still down home and their pools were refreshing ...
