... I have to say I feel a little aggrieved that my giant creation was not given first prize, especially as I felt Kristina’s winning effort (a Spanish fencing snowman called Hernandez) was pretty lame!
After some hot chocolate & lattes to warm ourselves up we had a brief stroll around town, Fernie is a nice enough place but it feels like it needs the hustle and bustle of the ski season crowds for it to really come to life, sadly we ...

This little town ranks right up there with our favourites. We looked at buying property here two years ago, but since the folks fron Calgary have discovered it , prices have gone thru the roof. what used to be $15000 ten years ago is more like $500000 now, crazy.
... irrigation boxes, digging drains, building steps, repairing stuff, chasing cattle up the mountain and driving the TRACTOR...Oh Are..
On one of my free days i climbed the mountain directly behind the farm house which was called Mt Iron, it was awesome it took 3 hours to get up and 3 and a half to come down, there was no path or route you had to sort of scramble your way up and down but when you got to the top ...
Crossed the Rockies, left Jasper National Park behind as we travel through the Kootenay region, past Fort Steele and stop at Cranbrook. Hope the truck is ready as promised tomorrow, we will drive to Kalispell once more and re-visit Eureka MT on the way. What gorgeous weather we have been granted!
... a Mountie who was based here to resolve issues between the local aboriginal tribe and settlers back in the 19th Century. It is beside the river that the miners had to cross during the gold rush time and started to build on this geograhic position. However it was initially favoured as a stopping point for the railway network but this did not come off and the residents dwindled away and the Fort had become a ghost town. interesting enough my parents visited Fort Steele ...
Cranbrook, British Columbia, Canada prieststrip... up tents, and had our first shower in a week. Couldn't wipe the smile of my face. Hot water is such a treat on a trip like this. We got up at the crack of sparrows **** and here we are in Fernie. Seven years ago I lived here for the winter season and to see it in summer is awesome. We are having a rest day and staying in the hostel. Free pancakes and coffee for breaky.

Well my time in Fernie has come to and end. The time here was a mix of everything. Before Simon went back to work up north I helped him stain the nice new timber fence he has built around his second house in Fernie. We nearly got it all completed  ;except for a few panels which  ;have been delayed due to the weather. The other job we completed was installing the clothsline pole at the ...
Fernie, British Columbia, Canada mja007... was not as smooth as the first one for delays and miss connections made the trip take 16 hours. I arrived at 2am in the morning sand was quite tired so rested up for the next day. The conditions were pretty good in March, Not as good as in Dec but substancial for good riding. Lake Louise, Golden, Fernie, Alberta, Canada serenebean... in Thailand to women's status? Can this be changed through Buddhism or is it further reaching? Rather than focusing on history, I am interested in finding a parth for change. So basically, thats what is pulling me to this magnificient country, but Kristy and I have a lot of other adventures ahead of us I believe. I am looking forward to all of the challenges ahead of us, and what will hopefully be one of the greatest experiences of our lives. -Erika
Fernie, British Columbia, Canada genki-drifters... Big, small, old, young they are all adorable here. This weekend is Griz Days here in town. Last night we watched the parade from our apartment window. Today there was a little craft fair where I bought myself a few new accessories. There was also a Griz look alike contest for the kids who were all adorable dressed up in leather trench coats and fake beards. Tonight we are heading out to check out BC/DC, a cover band that are pretty legendary in the area.
