Today is Kirsty's Birthday! At breakfast she gets her presents then alas it is time for us to leave Summer Bay. Cameron has done a great job of taking out the recyclables this holiday and today is no exception. Well done him. After checking out we make our way to the Mall at Millenia where the Cheesecake Factory is situated. We have some time to kill so have a wander round the Mall. This is not very exciting for a 12 year old. At last our table is ready and ...

... The morning rain disappeared and the day was warm and sunny.

Tonight we went out to a local restaurant with David and Diane. Very nice. After tea we drove to Gleneagles golf course (which is just up to road from Diane's house) and hotel for a nose. Impressive. Big ponds with white swans.

The Roslin Chapel guest house does not serve breakfast until 09:00 on a Sat so we skipped it. Left at about 08:15 and after a fairly leisurely drive were in Pitlochry by 12:20. Stopped for breakfast in Forestmill at a one man show cafe. Everything in the place was homemade except the bread. Coffee was reasonably awful, but the scrambled eggs were OK. Took the ...

Today we went to the botanic gardens in St Andrews. A very nice garden with lots of greenhouses. Some nice specimens. The herb garden was very interesting with lots of old herbs for both medicines and cooking. Some sections were a little run down - the vegetable gardens in particular. We then walked to the Old Course and had coffee in the Scores Hotel. We sat outside for a while before going to church at St ...

It's another 'moving on' day. We pack up in reasonable weather and are on the road by nine. Our route today takes us across the edge of the Grampians which causes Ian to be a grumpy-ian. Who gave those cyclists permission to use this road? It's a B road - pretty steep and also narrow - and totally impossible to overtake two puffing cyclists peddling side by side. Ian slows down and we lose our momentum. Ian is not happy :-( We overtake when we get a clear view but on this ...
