Liverpool, England, United Kingdom kevtheplatypusWell now the time has come to start preparing for the next trip away.
Yesterday was taken up with getting passport photos(why do they always look like mugshots?)
I had to have my picture taken twice. In the first set it looked like I was smiling and the guy taking the photos asked me to keep my lips together for the next lot.
Well I dont know about this.
Why cant passport photos have us looking happy.Surely we are not ...
Overton, England, United Kingdom chiangmaigreg... 23,000 and the stadium could have held 27,000(?) I think. I got a real buzz out of being one of the 'odd men out' seeing England was playing on their home ground.... and when the roars went up from the English people when they eventually scored - I felt it was more relief than happiness! It was all fairly good natured except when (as John said) the English people booed their own team off at half time. I missed that entirely as I ...
Wigan, England, United Kingdom pollies... see The Beatles Story, a museum dedicated to the Beatles. It was awesome! It was a great museum that you could tell they put a lot of time and money into. Then we went back to the World Museum that we walked around in for a little bit the day before. We looked at a couple more floors of the museum and watched a couple shows in the planetarium. I really enjoyed the shows in the planetarium (especially since the shows and the museum are free). One ...
Liverpool, England, United Kingdom ladysado... missing the Liverpool 12:30 bus by 5 minutes. Me and time do not bode well. I had to wait some 2.5 hrs for the next one, so I got on the internet at the terminal and killed some time. Finally I got on the bus and we started to drive north. Not even an hour later, we had to pull over at a middle of nowhere stop and wait for an hour while a repair guy came and greased an overheating wheel. You think they would pre-check ...
Liverpool, England, United Kingdom dhrycun... goodness Emily was there to help me. We ran onto the bus and made it with five minutes to spare. On the five hour bus ride to Liverpool I was able to pass a lot of the time sleeping, which was nice. But poor emily was kept up by a group of obnoxiously loud students behind her. When we made it into Liverpool we were both starving, but Emily's roommate had other plans for us. I met most of her roommates and they are extremely nice and ...
Liverpool, United Kingdom janellh... back in time - but no problem the flight was delayed by 3 hours anyway. Still Saturday 7th July In Flight Meals So what is it about in flight meals? Every one seems to eat them with such gusto and enthusiasm, two small sausages, some mash, 6 peas, a tiny cup of warm tea and a mousse (I always hoped Canadian moose were a bit bigger than this!) Well what else do you do for 8 hours? Icebergs "Look, Bonnie, icebergs, we're over Greenland" was met with a scowl ...
Liverpool, United Kingdom richandbonnie... s most famous sons John, Paul, George and Ringo in the city where it all began. It is a walk through experience that recreates the sights, sounds and even the smell of the Merseybeat era. We got to see a re-creation of Mathew Street and the Cavern where it all began where they played nearly 300 times before they became famous. It was a fabulous few hours that takes you back to another era and we had a fantastic time. After a very ...
Liverpool, United Kingdom bandglittle... 8217;s not enough hours in a day.”
Whippin’ Piccadilly by Gomez.

For a long established European city I was astounded how much of the central district comprised modern shiny glass office buildings and shopping centres, only to later read that an IRA bomb in 1996 kind of made all that new architecture rather necessary. A simple reminder that terrorism was just as common in recent history before September 11, 2001 as after ...
