Left hotel Mt Vernon Il at 745! Good nitr sleep. Brrr temp 37! Try to get home?? We r 1 hr from st louis (600 mi to home from there). Driving thru IL AND IA! At 315PM turned onto 35 notth! Sign said Mpls 182 miles! Yipee!! Ipod says home appx 700pm! Thatd like 12 hr day ( but we habe ot stopped to eat-just snacks in truck) grrrr! Arrived early and got our pick of sites. We found one right on the lake. At dusk, a family of skunks would come out to enjoy the fallen crab apples on the tree in our site. The sunsets were gorgeous! We met Puff the Purple Dragon on the beach! Loved the water tower.
