... conditions are horrendous with daytime temperatures in the mid forties and the landscape totally unforgiving. The wind is so hot off the rock and sand it is cooler to close the windows! After a morning snorkelling in the Red Sea we originally set off after a truck lunch for a four hour run to Luxor. This unfortunately turned into seven hours as we had to double back after a police checkpoint refused to allow us passage. Taking the long way round we got ...

Next day was a 3am start to go see the Abu Simbel temple. This is not just because of the heat, but because we had to be transported by tourism police! (There is no danger, it's just protical!) We did see some nice corals, a big clam, some parrot fish and a large sea snake so I was happy. Dan tried out is new ...

Today is our last day in Egypt and we will spend most of it in transit catching the local airline from Hurghada to Cairo and then Another flight from Cairo to Amman, Jordan. The journey started with a 9:00 am taxi ride to the Hurghada airport and will finish with an early evening check in to our hotel just south of Amman in neighbouring country Jordan. We have really enjoyed Egypt and especially the warm welcome that the ...
