We are really looking forward to the 3 week break at Christmas after such a long term and so much on. Lee and Shane arrive on the 17th, Christmas music in the Cathedral on the 18th and then off to Liverpool for a Christmas Beatles ...

Parky isn't it!

... we started our trips to India and I have to say that parts of it didn't dissapoint... It is a very large city standing on the banks of the River Ganga - reached by walking down tight side streets and Ghats which are large long steps.... There are approximately 32 sets of ghats with various names and usualy associated with a temple at the top of the steps... Shiva, Ganesh, Budhist, monkey and lots more temples but without doubt, the main focus are the two burning Ghats. Some go along out ...

Boulder Paths

"Over the boulder, down the boulder, **** the boulder, **** THE BOULDER!!!"

There are some points where the paths are naturally made of boulders or large rocks, fine I'm on a mountain I get it. However one day we hit some hard going with a path covered in boulders which, after about twenty minutes, I noticed there weren’t any boulders OFF the path, only on it. A neat line of ******, leg-twisting boulders was ...

Bye Bye Brum / Madness in Manchester

... chicken would have resembled a sleeping child compared with me I was that hyper (caffeine mixed with anticipatory excitement). I could barely write and was definately on turbo speed mode. Survived that and so did my patients, then ventured into town after work to visit the Birmingham/Frankfurt xmas markets (apparently the largest outside Germany). Of course it was dark by the time I got into town (5pm) so all the xmas lights were on and gave ...

The planning starts here...

This is just to get the ball rolling as it were.
Our aim is to have a life laundry over the next few months. Plan our year long trip through Europe. Sell or pass on to others things we need. Buy and equip a motor home. Produce a photo/video documentary of the trip.

Journey's End

Last brief entry, just to say we are safely back home, arriving yesterday with Sue picking us up at Manchester airport.

We've had a fantastic trip - very memorable! Thank you for following our trip. Hope it hasn't been boring, certainly hasn't for us.

Day 26

... then down one from the ground floor to find the kitchen and dinging room. While we waited for lunch, we spent time on the laptop, piano and outside playing footy. Eleanor, Carl's wife, returned for lunch for which we had roast chicken, potatoes, peas, chips and gravy with ice cream and malteasers for dessert. Considering most of us hadn't had much breakfast, it was great to be able to get food into our systems. We spent the rest of the afternoon ...

... would we want to walk a mile extra just to stand right at the bottom of a massive cliff that we were then going to have to climb? I couldn't get my head round it. Karim pointed out that the book was intended for people who did this sort of thing more than never. And it was written for all sorts of people, not just people doing the whole thing in one go with tents on their backs. I returned that I would like to give Martin Collins a worm's-eye view of my ...
