This hotel is centrally located and offered a great place for us to stay for two weeks. Internet is the biggest challenge. If you need reliable internet service for communications, you will have problems.

Our first day! A fabulous buffet breakfast, which should have been a hint as to the food on this trip...both quantity and quality.....and onto the bus to Table Mountain because it was sunny and clear. But first..... immediately upon leaving the hotel we looked up to see Sugarloaf Peak rising directly above the city. Wow! Our bus trip took us through the tony area of CT and condos and hotels one side of the road and ...

Spent the day at various places across the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront today. I was going to go to Robben Island but got there, and they were full for the day, so I'm going tomorrow at 1pm instead. Something I hadn't noticed yesterday, there's a Nando's right by me! And a matter where you go, cheap **** food will follow. Speaking of which, I walked via Checkers to pick up some lunch for the day. When I made it to the Nelson Mandela Gateway (about 30-45 mins walk) ...

... canyon itself - the 2nd largest after the Grand Canyon in the States. This was awesome, we took loads of pictures and film, but they don't do it justice, this canyon is so vast and so deep - it really needs to be seen with own eyes. After our canyon sightseeing we checked in at the lodge and received a very warm welcome. We were shown to our chalet which turned out to be miles away from reception - too far to walk at night after dinner, so we asked ...

... 7 km off the coast from Cape Town and was used as an island of banishment for lepers, the mentally insane, criminals and eventually political prisoners. It is most famous of course for being the prison that held Nelson Mandela for 18 of his 27 years of imprisonment. The ferry trip there and back was great and provided beautiful views of all of Cape Town and the looming Table Mountain in the background. As we arrived on the Island we were shown around the island on a tour ...
