    ... certainly don't let the grass grow under their feet, so today after a lazy morning and sensational bacon and eggs cooked on the BBQ, we tidied -up and Per dropped us back on the mainland at Heidi's.
    I did a couple of little maintenance jobs on Dulcie, and tonight we are off back to Kari and Haakon's for the night.

    ... reunited with his family in Sweden! So fortunate too that they not only got out safely during the war but also before the wall went up to create East Germany-they would never have got out!!

    It was the dearest little church with one of the oldest known working pipe organs in Sweden-only specialists had the ability to play it. Apparently a musician from Oxford was coming the following week to perform a concert on it! I marvelled yet again at how often ...

    ... Eve dinner party with family and friends. We had Turkey roast with vegetables which was beautiful, then also some desserts and chocolates and lots to drink! The karaoke started up and was great. At midnight, we all went outside where all the fireworks were going off, some quite close! The fireworks went for a while then went back inside for some more karaoke! The night ended about 3.30am but I retired at 2am!! Too much shopping to keep up! A good start to 2014 ...

    ... walk a little around the base camp, as we wouldn't have been able to see anything from the top of the mountain. However, it turned out they were doing a guided tour inside the glacier at the base camp, so we went for a 2 hour walk (not that far with me being the nana-ishly slow person with the others resembling mountain goats/ rock rabbits "skipping" over the rocks) until it was time for the tour.
