The ship (NordNorge) was built in 1997 and can hold 623 passengers and 35 cars. Surprisingly it only has 451 berths which means I guess (623-451) passengers sleep in the lounges! Meals are buffet style

We are on the ship for 12 nights, the SJR mob leave us at Trondheim the day before Bergen.

Day 1 was a trip up a fjord starting at Alesunde which is famous for its Art Nouveau buildings there was major fire ...

... pretty tiny! Finished dinner 9:30 and went back to the room. Our washing was on different timers and Dylan's finished before mine, so we put it in the dryer, then had to make a few trips back and forth to do mine, and check if they were dry. Something I washed with my clothes turned my whites grey :( I couldn't work out how to do a cold wash, usually the clothes are all good in cold! By the time we finished the laundry I was exhausted, and we were in bed at ...

It was Sunday and many of the locals were heading to church in traditional costumes. Here we found a talented artist using the natural surroundings as well as debris from the Arctic Ocean as inspiration for her work. We took a little piece away with us! And then our final evening on board and our last view of ...

        Waking in a winter wonderland

A travel blog entry by jennymgg on Oct 10, 2014

I opened the curtains this morning and everything was white. Most of it was owing to thick fog - you couldn't see the lake 10 metres away - but the snow-covered trees were clearly visible and the ground had a sprinkling of powder. Finland gave us a warm (in name only) welcome, but with the northern lights and snow, it provided a spectacular farewell. Going to breakfast was an adventure in itself. While undercover everything was fine, but as soon as we hit ...

        Finland - saunas & Santa

... actually are entitled to a stamp in your passport because of this. Of course, Santa land is mainly the usual collection of souvenir shops, a post office and Santas house. A fun day out!
From Rovaneimi we took a 5 hour bus trip up to Inari. An interesting drive past lakes and bubbling streams, made very spectacular by the autumn colours of the trees. Inari is a small town on a large lake in Lapland. It was interesting to learn about the Sami people who are indigenous to Lapland ...
