In fact , TWO wows in one day!
Took a motor boat trip for 20 minutes across Svartisvatnet Lake. Landed and hiked almost 3 km uphill, next to a cascading turquoise river, to Austerdalsvatnet Lake, 208 metres above sea level. Hiked along/around the lake shore to see the Austerdalsisen glacier. WOW!! Part of the Svartisen Ice Cap and the second largest glacier in Norway. He did the sculptures at Lake Ballard in W.A. prior to this sculpture of a male torso in 1995. Photographed the remains of the old town, then drove out of town in search of a glacier!!! Drove into Namsos. Great for salmon fishing , they say!
Drove up to top of Mt Klompen. Attempted to access WW2 bunkers carved out of rock but nowhere to park. Drove around old town. Parts of this town have been burnt to the ground three times - the last in a bombing raid in 1942 to celebrate Hitler's birthday!
