Found the atmosphere a little brusk after what we have experienced in the past month of travelling. Not as customer orientated. Had lunch in the Plaza hotel just along the street which we would have booked in preference had we known of it's existance. Even parking is an additional $7 - they want $100 against your card and refund the balance two days after you leave?? Never had to do this any where in our travels so far. You are informed that the towels will be counted and any missing will be charged against your deposit after you leave. NOT what I have been used to.

Teams coming to visit the Tournament Capital often stay at this abode because it is located right in the heart of Kamloops and within walkking distance of all the amenities and entertainment.

0530 - what does the 0 stand for? O my God it's early.

Though the sun was already sending rays of light above the coastal mountains promising a beautiful day, Robyn was not a happy early riser.

The luxury of staying in one place for more than a night or two is also the curse of being mostly unpacked so the last minute stuff takes …

We didn't receive our upgrade to Gold Leaf so had to be content with Silver Leaf that we had originally booked. It was still a very comfortable ride, the main difference we were served our meals at our seats, which didn't encourage as much mingling and meeting others while moving to the dining car in Gold Leaf. We crossed over 9 rivers today - it …

I can't say that Kamloops was an inspiring town, but it was surrounded by a large lake, unlike the countryside that was a sparse rocky desert. It was quite some time before we came across the typical pine tree covered mountains, but no snow peaks today as we descended from the Rockies. We did see evidence of snow through Avalanche Alley, where …

Time to Board the Rocky Mountaineer! The alarm woke us at 5.30am for our early morning start for the train journey. We had a quick breakfast before being taken by bus to the Rocky Mountaineer Terminal. There was a pianist playing, red carpet, piper and horns to beep before we boarded the train. We had been given an upgrade to Gold Leaf Service …

Early start - cases out by 6 - continental breakfast - on the bus at 7 for a short trip to the Rocky Mountaineer station to be welcomed aboard this first class train.

The dining car was below where we were sitting and they served breakfast and lunch, so we had 2 breakfasts today.
