Found the atmosphere a little brusk after what we have experienced in the past month of travelling. Not as customer orientated. Had lunch in the Plaza hotel just along the street which we would have booked in preference had we known of it's existance. Even parking is an additional $7 - they want $100 against your card and refund the balance two days after you leave?? Never had to do this any where in our travels so far. You are informed that the towels will be counted and any missing will be charged against your deposit after you leave. NOT what I have been used to.

Teams coming to visit the Tournament Capital often stay at this abode because it is located right in the heart of Kamloops and within walkking distance of all the amenities and entertainment.

Early start - cases out by 6 - continental breakfast - on the bus at 7 for a short trip to the Rocky Mountaineer station to be welcomed aboard this first class train.

The dining car was below where we were sitting and they served breakfast and lunch, so we had 2 breakfasts today.

Our suitcases had to be outside our door at 5.45am and it felt like I had only 2 hours sleep as I'm still adjusting to the time difference but I carnt believe how good I feel anyway. It was raining in Vancouver when we were picked up by our friendly bus driver Richard and taken to the rail station where the pomp and ceremony of boarding the rocky …

Today we board the Rocky Mountaineer and yet another early start to the day which means being in the lobby of the Hotel by 6:30. We were picked up and taken to Rocky Mountaineer's own station which from the outside doesn't look much but inside WOW very nice. So we can meet our scheduled departure at 8am, we are greeted with our all aboard train …

... to pass tons of them and the visibility wasn't great! But it was dark so Very easy to see if there was any oncoming traffic. That and the guy in front of me part way thru had the same idea - Yes!! 17 trucks later the road was still ******. They hadn't taken the graders to it yet so the evening's snowfall was built up along the sides. Enough traffic so there was at least some clear roads in the center.

Uneventful and decided to go through the town ...
