We left Pat and John this morning about 9am. Meg the dog was distraught she fell in love with Suz. We motored all day and arrived by the beach in Biarritz. We paid the tolls I have discovered that by the time you have slowed for all the roundabouts you use more fuel its actually cheaper to pay the toll. We had a beer overlooking the Atlantic in the ...

Our lovely hotel in a quiet neighborhood of Biarritz was our maison for 36 hours. We slept well in our attic room, listening to rain off and on during the night and early morning. After breakfast we walked towards the ocean, stopping on a dime for me to purchase a beret at the milliner's shop. Its a place that was very popular before high society all went over to the other side i.e Cannes, in the late 50's and in a way has had its heyday. But its glamourous past as a victorian era resort has been restored, the beaches are packed with surfer dudes, its coastline walks & paths all ...

Sunday 14 It was a long train trip to Bayonne - the regional train from Toulouse to Bayonne was a very slow one and wound ion and out of the mountain range (the Pyrenees). The regional train was one of those where you are in a 6 berth cabin set up. I jumped on and settled myself into the first cabin on the carriage. I didn't think anything of it as other commuters looked in at me ass they struggled up the small hallway with their luggage. As the train was starting to move the ...

I forgot that sometime in the last few days I walked the equivalent of Auckland to Wellington. Seems longer though. 33kms today and writing this at 6pm it's 30 degrees so you know what the day was like. Walked some of it with Paul-Jean who is the well dressed French man. He's very keen on classic English cars so we had lots to talk about. I think he's looking for a girlfriend, this is a target ...
