... land and need a place to sleep, eat and drink. The monasteries provided a place to stay. The water was bad (no sanitation) so they made beer for people to drink, they painted their buildings yellow, so travelers should know where to stop for the night. There were four yellow buildings in Passau. Some of the monastaries still make beer.

We have seen several churches over the last few days - beautiful stained glass, beautiful carvings - but today we saw possibly the ...

Next it was time to head into dinner. On the way back in, Sannie, Bob and I were headed back to our room ( at the bottom of the ship) ( my shoes may have been wet from the snow), I stepped on the top step of the landing and my feet slipped out from under me. At the lake there was a pontoon which was nice to walk out onto, the water was amazingly clear in the lake you could see right to the bottom. There was also a little swimming pool which was part of the lake but with steps down to it - I cant believe people actually swim in there!! It was iced over at the sides which shows how cold it is. Its very refreshing walking in the ...

CRUISING DAY - Linz / Salzburg / Passau

Today is Christmas Day and my 62nd birthday!

We disembarked in the morning in Linz and have chosen to take the 'Sound of Music' themed tour for the day. We were bussed into Salzburg 2 hours away minutes away stopping briefly in the Austrian Lake District and at Mondsee to go inside the church where Baron von Trapp and Maria got married in the musical film 'The Sound of Music'.

    Travelled on to Salzburg ...
