    A Day in Passau

It was very fun arriving in Passau by bicycle last night, and riding into the city gave us a better appreciation for its position as a city built at the confluence of three rivers -- the Ilz (runs from Switzerland and is known as the black river), the Inn (the strongest current and known as the green river, also key source of prior salt trade and wealth for the city) and the "blue" Danube (our guide said she has lived here ...

    (Cycling) Highway to Passau

... straight line along the river, no change of scenery, something of a highway for bicycles if you will. So I just put on my earphones and pedaled without thinking. With all the carbs we ingested we barely needed breaks anyways. After passing by many joggers and the Passau university, we finally arrived in the center of the city. We tried to ...

... before crossing into Austria where everybody bought up on alcohol and nibbles. As an example 1 litre of Jamiesons Whisky was around au$22.

Back at the boat and we had some time to walk the streets of Linz. This looks like a beautiful city and further exploring could be done here. The town square was large with people enjoying the cafe's and with people finishing work for the day the trams passing through here were full.

    Tomorrow we get to ...

    Rest Day - Passau

A day off the bikes! Had a late breakfast, no other guests eating then they arrived much later, must be a short cycle leg for them today. Made our way down to the old town waterfront on the Danube; found our boat, the Sissi, to do a cruise up and down the Danube. There are dozens of large cruise boats in town, some doing day cruises, others are ...
