... we walked up on the top of the ship. There is a sun deck with lounge chairs, a heated pool, a giant chess board, and a sitting area with couches. Also a covered area with chairs and tables under. It was sunny so it wasn't to bad. We watched as the ship went throught the first lock. The captain said there would be 12 altogether. I had never seen the lock process and it was fascinating to watch. The first time. I don't know if I would go up,on deck to watch it again. Somewhere up ...

      • The second half of the day was on the bus after lunch. Napping was popular. I worked on my cross stitch some more. We watched the scenery. We saw some storms in the distance but never had rain ourselves. We were excited to reach Vilshoffen and crossed the bridge over the Danube and saw our River ship. Venice is an extraordinary beautiful city and a true romantic at heart. It was the last stop in my amazing Italian adventure. A brilliant experience filled with food, religion, art, fashion and history. I will be back one day to soak it all up again and bring someone to share a gondola with ...

... We parked in the town and walked to the lake which was very nice in the sunshine.

At the lake there was a pontoon which was nice to walk out onto, the water was amazingly clear in the lake you could see right to the bottom. There was also a little swimming pool which was part of the lake but with steps down to it - I cant believe people actually swim in there!! It was iced over at the sides which shows how cold it is. Its very refreshing walking in the ...

... It has a baroque majesty about it created in part by several Prince-Archbishops who all managed major building programs leaving over 100 churches, castles, and palaces in the village.

There were great Christmas markets in city and photos to be taken of the Convent from 'The Sound of Music'. Long day but interesting. Ros enjoyed it more than any other day I think.

While we were in Salzburg the AmaVerde cruised from Linz into Passau and docked for the ...
