... babies running and pushing to see who can get there first. Isabelle and I get to ride them into the jungle. A Hispanic couple who came to visit one day also got to ride with us in the afternoon, but the man's elephant got excited when we passed a small lake, and decided to walk into the water!! The man had to jump off and swim, in all his clothes and his backpack!! It was scary but hilarious once we knew he was safe. We walk about 15 minutes into the forest, and then the ...

... on was not on the GPS or Alan's Atlas. It had been on Guy's Atlas, but he left that in the restaurant back on the other side of the lake. Oh well ... there was only one way to go, anyway. From there, the plan ...

For a dollar we got a good dish of Pad Thai and tucked in. Grabbed a couple of bottles of Chang and headed back to the room.   The following day we headed to a temple in Phitsanulok called Wat Phra Si Ratana Mahathat or affectionately knowly by the locals as Wat Yai ...

Back to the village ...

A travel blog entry by steve_m on Dec 28, 2011

Made a toilet stop at the Indo-China INtersection just outside of Phitsanulok. There is a large signpost here pointing to far distant cities in other countries of the region; Kuala Lumpur, Yangon, Hanoi, Danang 1010km. We arrive at Khon Kaen about 7:30 and are just in time to use the toilets (take a deep breath and pinch you nose closed !) before catching the bus to Phon Thong. Arrive in town about 10:45 and take a rickety old tuk-tuk out to the village. Find ...
