    ... evening. We ended up being stranded in a town in the middle of Nowhere, Germany and ended up staying the night in an odd little inn. We got up early the next morning to catch a 6:30am train and were back on our way. After a full 24 hours of traveling, we finally reached our hostel and were able to check in to our rooms at long last. It was a total fluke of a stop and although we never intended to, we added a pin in our map somewhere in northern Germany.

    ... to see another church. So I made my way down to Helpoort again. The sun was still shinning and I thought it would be nice to sit by the lake and read my book. Just have a quiet afternoon.     ... So I wandered around the outside of the fort for a bit then made my way back into town. For you information, the fort was built in 1701/02 as a bastion against french invasion. A little late considering the french had already invaded the town during the Dutch war in 1673. They handed Maastricht back to the dutch five years later after the Treaty of Nijmegen.     ... welcome to God's house. I'm pretty sure he doesn't like me very much. So having been shut out I decided to go for a walk. The map shoed some parkland to the west of town so I meandered down to take a look. With the sun shining it was beautiful, along the park I could see the old town fortifications.
