I had to move hotels since the main one was fully book on this night.
So, it was over to the Lamphey Court Hotel - an old mansion that was converted. Not the same as the spa hotel in Saundersfoot, but this one does have an indoor pool.
It was an adventure trying to get here. With all the rain, the roads were flooding. If it weren't for TomTom, I'm not sure I would have found the 4th way to get to the hotel. And I still had to drive through standing water.
Back at the St. Brides Spa Hotel in Saundersfoot.
Unfortunately, winter doesn't make this the best place to stay. It's dark when you are at the hotel, so you don't get the views. And the spa doesn't stay open late enough in the winter. At least I will get to enjoy it over the weekend.
And the walk along the coast - kind of scary in the dark. But you do get to see a bunch of stars and parts of the Milky Way because there isn't much light pollution out here.
... the only one in Wales and the first in over 100 years) so by 10am we had already had shots of whiskey and a fabulous bailleys-like liquer called Merlyn!
Then across to the southwest of Wales - we spent lunch time in Tenby, a village on the coast, which is enclosed by a massive medieval wall. Just off Tenby is an island which has a monastery on it, where monks live in the traditional way. They also ...
... as a kid. It got me into a hang glider with my mate Tim (where are you know Tim?) with him shouting instructions like " Just imagine you're being chased by a dog and run!" I did, I crashed we laughed lots. Once upon a time we were invincible and the world stretched on for ever and so would we.
I went on to run two Hang Gliding schools. The bellowing of "just imagine your being chased by a dog" rang out through the Welsh ...
... it sure started our day off wonderfully.
Today we motored down to St. Davids Cathedral and town. I am enclosing photo's of the Cathedral which is quite something. St. David is the patron saint of Wales and is well revered here. Following our sight seeing there we took tiny, tiny roads running a long the coast line of Wales and the scenery was quite spectacular! I will enclose a video which I ...
... are fit and hardy here and you see many elderly on the move with their walking sticks and back packs.
There are so many castles in the UK that you could not see them all. One was enough for us to view the inside and we did this on a rainy day, the others make great photographs unless you are really into castles! Also many churches, cathedrals, and Abby's. We enjoy photographing these beautiful places.

... We had a delicious dinner here at the B&B this evening. We are off tomorrow to St. David's and to do some photography on the beach of the cliffs and water. It is green and really beautiful here.
Mom I found you hand carved love spoons which are beautiful and bringing you home two because I know you will love the Wales carvings so much. They are rose wood.

A pretty well preserved castle.
One of the main towers was closed for some work, so I didn't get to climb everything. And the other tower is reserved for bats.
Did have an interesting little chapel.
Good views of the castle across the water.
... sick during the entire five months. And therefore it must be credited with helping to ensure that the trip ran its full course. But more than that, it has allowed me to keep this blog. And this blog has, I think, played an important role in maintaining my sanity whilst travelling. I think it's the 'proper traveller' issue again. 'Proper travellers' seem to revel in the flexibility and freedom that travelling gives them. But people like me like to have structure and a framework. For five ...
Saundersfoot, United Kingdom ianr... Best of all, all the dishes, from the soup of the day and bread to the curry chicken, were large enough to fill a person. After we'd finished, we got a chance to talk to the owners. It seems they've been running the restaurant for a few years and had developed a reputation for friendliness and good food. They even run a shuttle bus for parties of 8 or more within a 10 mile radius. If one is in the Newgale area, they should make the effort to visit this place.
