Last day on the Broads

A travel blog entry by kuno.budack on May 29, 2015

We had the mooring all to ourselves. We all slept better than ever. Pity that this actually isn't really another day on the Broads as we had to hand back the ship at 9:30 the latest. On and on we drove to search for a similarly quaint spot to yesterday. There was one with beautiful mooring places which was unusually empty, only to find out that you had to pay. We passed some free mooring on the channel next to Wroxham Broad but 3 boats were moored already and the spaces in between appeared to small. Problem is, we can't go past Wroxham bridge as it is to low so at the start of Wroxham ...

... it appealingly rural.

Our first mooring was a disaster. I was at the helm and initially virtually rammed the boat into the bank. Jane was pulling like mad on the stern ropes, making her fall over and the boats bow veering away from the bank. Somehow we managed to hammer the stakes into the ground and secure the boat. I lowered the mud anker and we were ready to settle down.

It is quiet, it is cosy - I like ...
