Historical Traveler Reviews of The Whistler Cascade Lodge

Adoramos el Cascade Lodge

from juniperair
Fue hermoso y el personal era maravilloso. Nuestra familia de cuatro adoró la estancia en la suite de un dormitorio. No oímos mucho ruido o nada parecido. La vista (árboles nevados) era magnífica, las camas eran cómodas y nos divertimos y dormimos plácidamente todos los días. Yo regresaría sin dudar.

Cascading Noise

from whenissummer
The Lodge itself is nice enough, but it is so close the highway the road noise woke us all several times a night. The lodge was pretty clean, the pool was alright, the location was okay and Whistler was great!!! There were also some large groups of young skiers who made their fair share of noise one night. Oh, there was also a nude man smoking on his balcony who fascinated my 8 year old daughter, but Whistler was awesome!!!!

We were staying in the condo/timeshare side of the hotel, so I assume staying in rooms facing toward the mountain and away from the highway would be an advantage.

Cascade Lodge- Great Value

from A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed at the Cascade Lodge the weekend of August 19-20. The weather in Whistler was great, so we were able to enjoy the great pool area and walk around the charming village.

The Lodge itself is in a perfect location. It was a busy weekend, but the employees were efficient, friendly and helpful- as it was our first time in Whistler. This not a hotel, but condominium lodges which suited us just fine. The rooms were clean, but somewhat dated.

Overall, great value and a great experience. See you in the winter!

Timeshare X 2

from A TripAdvisor Member
We own timeshare weeks at Cascade in July and at New Year's. We don't have much dependence on the hotel staff due to our timeshare status, but we enjoy the location and amenities. Bring earplugs for the highway noise if you leave the windows open. The views are great. Close to the Village.

Great base

from emandnellie
We got married in Whistler in Jan 2004 and stayed at the cascade.

we were orginally going to stay at the fairmount but decided to down grade a little and save some money so we could have better hotels during the rest of our trip. (Hawaii and vegas). afterall when we ski we just need a base as the time we spend in our room is minimal.

we opted for a 1 bedroom apartment. It was huge..2 large sofas massive tv (well in UK terms anyway!) well equipped kitchen area, big dinining table, nice sized bedroom and bathroom.

we couldn't fault it. The night before the wedding I sent my fiance to stay with his best man and all the girls came round to our room and we watched a video from the extensive selection from reception. There was plenty enough room for 8 of us to sit comfortably and munch on delivered pizza!!

Guess it all depends what you expect from your accomodation but we found it ideal and the staff were always corteous and helpful.

we would have no hesitation in going back there again

We Enjoyed the Cascade Lodge

from jetsetera
We just stayed at the Whistler Cascade Lodge this past weekend during the Telus Ski & Snowboard Festival. We stayed for 2 nights. We reserved a studio unit through Whistler and paid about $99CDN/night. We thought this was a pretty good deal considering Whistler recently had just received some good dumps as well as the Festival going on. What I need is a nice clean place but nothing too fancy. I knew what I was getting so I didn't expect hotel service.

We checked in on Friday and everything seemed pretty good. Our room was small but most units in Whistler are small, especially studio units. It was perfect for my boyfriend and I. We knew exactly what we were receiving (I am anal retentive and ask a million questions before I book and read this site) so we did not have crazy expectations. Whistler Cascade Lodge is NOT a hotel. If you want a hotel there are many others in Whistler like the Chateau or the Delta Suites or the Holiday Inn even. This is a rental lodge run by a property management company. Meaning you rent someone's condo when they don't use it. There is not extraordinary service because, well, it's not a hotel. This suited us just fine. We loved it here. It's still in the Village but not directly in so it's not loud at night when the clubs/bars shut down. It's close to the IGA grocery store and other amenities. There are hot tubs and an outdoor heated pool. The hot tubs are great. The pool was heated but it was so cold out for me I coudln't take a dip. There were kids in there though. This is probably a great place to bring children. But we fully utilized the hot tubs.

The unit itself was great. It even had an insuite washer and dryer. Perfect for those staying a bit longer or those who need to dry their snowboard gear. It had plates, glasses, utensils, pots and pans. No oven in the studio unit but that's fine because we ate dinners out. We used mini fridge to store juice, water and beers. Things like yogurt for breakfasts and milk for cereal. We're on a budget. Ha! There's a kettle in there for tea and a coffee maker. Eating out every meal is expensive in Whistler so this was a great way to save on that but still enjoy a nice weekend getaway.

I only have 3 small complaints for the lodge which aren't huge but still...Parking is $12/day. There should be free parking for all guests. It's really ridiculous that there is no complimentary parking in Whistler. Second is the water pressure in the shower is weak. I like strong showers and this one is definitely wimpy. All they probably need to do is replace the head. Third is the hours for the pool/hot tub is 10am to 10pm. It probably could stand to be open longer hours. Say 6am to 11pm. My sore muscles needed it before I went out for a day of snowboarding. Oh well. You can't have everything.

Cascades Lodge, NOT the best stay

from astrokittens
I completely agree. I stayed at the Cascade 2 years ago and had a great time with some great staff. I've returned to find all my great staff gone and a bunch of inexperienced, uncaring, rude agents manning the desk, if you can call it that. The management company that runs the property is Whistler's Lodging Company, and I've heard that all front desks staffed by them are unfortunately the same. It shows me that if they an't afford to train their staff properly, and upkeep their rooms, they should not be running as many desks as they do!!!!! A very BAD service experience, certainly NOT what I expected in whistler!

What a rip off

from A TripAdvisor Member
A word of advice to travellers. DO NOT STAY HERE OR AT ANY OF THE WHISTLER LODGING COMPANYS PROPERTIES. What a scam, they offer all kinds of stuff they cant provide. Since they are a "property managment company" and not a real hotel they only get a small percentage of the revenue, thus they can not afford to hire enough staff and they will make ever excuse in the book to not provide real service. They try to blame everything on all the other companies in the building and tell you that its not there fault because they are just the "property manager". They hire few staff and the ones they have are under trained and inexperienced, all just to save a buck. Your the one who pays in the end. Basically, this place could be great if a real company ran the show! Try the Fairmont or Delta for a better time.

Loved it!

We absolutely loved it! And we are coming again in July 2004! I don't know what that other person was saying!

Superior Customer Service

from A TripAdvisor Member
Our stay was the most enjoyable of all hotel stays we have ever had. We travel a lot and must stay that the front desk personel were definately the best we have ever had. This was the weekend the road had washed out and if it was not for the prompt and concerned staff our trip would have been a disaster. The staff was very informed and kept us posted and helped out another party we traveled with and made this the most enjoyable weekend stay I have ever had...and what a great pool! The rooms were clean complete and I wanted to take the matress home ...but did'nt have room. Just kidding about taking the matress hehe but it was comfortable. The location was great. I will most definately return as I loved the pool and hot tubs.
