... there! Worth the extra 5 pounds! I'm now back in my room; I head for London tomorrow morning really early. Mike invited me out with him and his wife, so I'm finishing this and then heading that way. But I DO leave at 7 am, so probably not the best idea I've ever had. Ahhhh well, it's vacation :) This was a beautiful day; I'm so glad I let myself wander. I ended up in a place that took my breath away and feeling so much happiness I could burst. Scarborough, you now have a part of my ...

... the ruins of Danby Castle. It was never a fortified castle but more of an estate. Katherine Parr, Henry VIII’s last wife lived here before she married him. This was a decent trail but not our favorite. ...

cottage is famous for a children’s program called Old Jack’s Boat. We are staying in Old Jack’s Cottage. Only the ...

Thursday is again marginal and we decide to watch the storms from the cottage. It takes time to write and plan and this seems like a good day for it. For dinner we walk to the local pub which seems deserted from the outside but is cheery and lively inside. Maybe everyone else walked too. We get the local take on the North of England vs. the South. We've noticed a real divide. Up here the attitude is that the south is crowded ...

We arrived in York mid morning.and spent several hours walking around the old town and city walls. Was a fine sunny day and temps reached 21C. After lunch beside the old castle we headed east to Scarborough but were caught up in a long slow traffic jam for well over half an hour where the 2 lanes merged into 1 - seems like everyone was going on ...
