... back to Oxford, but on the way we stopped at Hardwick Hall. We learned of a peculiar story of a girl (Arabella) who thought she would one day be queen but instead ended up locked in the tower of England all because she wanted to choose who she would marry. Up from the stream and onto to the Moor I forgot we headed down to the Lyke Wake route before we head up to the Cross. It was great to see John Vernon and Mark Dalton there, poor lads as this would be the last check point too so they would be out for a long time.

... to celebrate the connection. We left Thursday afternoon, it was going to be a long drive and eventually we arrived 7 hours later. It was the usual motorway driving but the weather was good and surprisingly mild for this time of year in Merry Olde Blighty. Temperatures were in the high teens and even topped 20 Deg. C in some parts. Driving over the moors to Whitby was very interesting, it was dark and you could see why someone would be inspired ...
