Quay Road Westport, County Mayo, Western Ireland, Ireland, 353-98-25811-
We're just back from visiting Ireland where we visited Dublin, Waterford, Killarney, Galway and best of all, Westport!
The area is amazing, lots of history with quaint cottages and pubs with music and great characters.
The highlight of our trip was discovering a hotel on route the Westport Woods Hotel in the town of Westport.
The hotel was really nice, but the best part was their riding centre called Go Trekking.
We both ride back home, me a little more than my boyfriend. The g...

... cliffs. The ocean views were breathtaking, and the sheep didn’t mind sharing them with us.
At the end of the drive, we went to the information center where we found out that a castle we had passed and neglected to photograph, was that of Grace O’Malley, the pirate queen. It was also the one picture I had promised my grandson, so we knew we had to go back. First, though, we drove around the rest of the island. We took the narrow and winding road to ...
... Villanova students didnt get to climb all the way to the top because it takes about 2 and a half hours to get up and we just didnt have the time. However we did climb up for about 30 minutes and were rewarded with a fantastic view of the surrounding county. It really was a great hike because it got the blood pumping (havent been doing too much exercise since I got here..) and you climbed alongside a very picturesque little stream all the ...
Murrisk, County Mayo, Ireland tjjoyce... and given 7,000 acres. Still a lot, but not nearly as much or as good of land as they had. The Inside was furnished as it would have been in the 1900's (we werent allowed to take pictures inside) and got to see how the landlord would conduct business with his tenants...by hiding behind a secret bookcase and having an agent do everything! The grounds were absolutely beautiful too. There is a large lake ...

This Abbey has been around for a while to say the least....It is here that St. Patrick baptized the people of the area in 441 A.D.. There is a bit of lore to how it came to be
in the modern state it is now. It was said that the clergy of the church took in the prince of Turloch because he was fleeing the vengeance of Turloch's queen who wanted her own son to sit the throne. The clergy of the ...

Nothing from Sister Leigh tonight - he's in bed in his really dirty clothes.
Ok so we drove about two hours in the pouring rain to get to Ashford Castle. The roads were narrow and lined with stone walls. Quite a harrowing ride. We gasped at all the cars coming towards us at top speed. I kept thinking they were in our lane. We stopped in a little village for a break and to have a pint of Guinness. We tucked into a little place that was so quaint and old world. The little old lady behind the bar was ...
Cong, Western Ireland, Ireland dsmccMy bag has been packed. And re-packed. And unpacked. And squished.
I've informed the hotel of my late arrival.
I've got (some) foreign cash.

Agh!
Clifden, Western Ireland, Ireland bobbyw2345... to muscle down to the bar. Gary and I exchange the "we are outta here" look. Sneaking out we walk next door to the Porterhouse Bar, owned by Joe O'Malley. This is what we were looking for. A neighborhood pub with traditional Irish music. Searching for a seat I bumped into Kyle Munn, who everyone in the pub knew. His friends ask us ...
