... Maple Leafs 3-0. Funny tthat we had to come all the way to Mexico to watch hockey. Karl ordered a beer and good fortune was on our side - it was 2 for 1! After the game we played a card game they translated for us as 'One'. Clever Karl figured out they were talking about Uno.
Settled in well and are off to Cuba today.
... them ran away when they saw us, but some of the big ol boys held their ground. It was pretty freaky!
I would never ever take a picture in front of the swimming pool for my own beneift, however I know my parents would want to see the pool so Mom and Dad here you go!
Cancun was an experience. It was like being in the United States, and I definately did not like it. Good bye Cancun, I hope to never ever see you again!
... in a not so friendly manner that we didn't usually carry around our marriage certificate, and the presence of Jody and Niamh were proof enough, and if he was through wasting our time he might provide us with transport back to Cancun. With lightning speed he ushered us towards the waiting transport for our 45 minute return journey. On our return Christie and I reflected on the morning. It seemed likely that our appearance in sandals and shorts, Christie ...
Cancun, Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico casebrownfamily... to lay your head. We will stay there again. Day 1 - Shopped, ate and hung out on the beach while we drank beer. He drank beer...I'm too cute for beer. I had wine. Later that night we took a charter bus to Cancun. Day 2 - repeated day 1 but in Cancun and no bus. In Cancun we stayed at Cancun Plaza. Not all-inclusive. Very nice room, okay staff. The hotel bar by the pool is GREAT. the bar ...
Cancun, Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico sporte11... including a day of diving the Gulf of Mexico as soon as the waether fines up, and hopefully a 2-day trip to Merida and the Mayan ruins of Chichinitza. All going well, I will be able to link up with Clare on her bus tour while I am in Merida. Then we both overnight here in Cancun on the 27th before ignoring the US government embargo and heading into Cuba. In three weeks I will be home! Where has the time gone? Best wishes. Tony
Cancun, Mexico tonyc-r... as leaving their jewlery and Ipods at home and avoiding night travel as much as possible. It's interesting to note that history is repeating itself with regard to religion. The Catholics succeeded in converting the Mayans and now it is the Evangelicals who are succeeding in doing the converting. They say that over 60% of Guatemalans are now Evangelicals and you see their temples everywhere. Having said that, Guatemala is the birthplace and heartland of the Maya ...
Cancun, Mexico tipep... and shower big enough to fit at least 10 adults (hmm never considered the implications of that before) There was a hammock on the balcony which was a perfect place to read and listen to the ocean ...
Cancun, Mexico kennedys... changed to cold. Once in a while the cold water in the shower turns off and you get a load of boiling water pouring on your back. Just for a second but it really hurts. They try to make you aware of this and mark hot and cold with a little blue and a red dot, stupid me just didn't pay attention to it. We did request the Bugambillas building on the Nizuc side for my brother & sister in law as well as ourselves. They honored both requests and we had a great view of the ...
Cancun, Mexico schlossie... for 12 klms plus is grander! However back in Cancun city it just seems like most of the other big cities we have seen. I feel like there should be alot more to this entry seeing that alot of time has passed but to be honest not much else has been going on. We were more or less just biding our time before Cuba and now the day has come. It is now T - 6 hours and E.T.A is 8 hours to the land of the not so free and home of the Mojito, Cigars and Salsa. Ready or not here we come . . .
