After seeing Niagara Falls and sampling ice wine, we headed for Toronto. We had booked a room at the Westin Harbour Castle and upgraded to a lake view room (Click here to see my TripAdvisor review of this hotel.) at The hotel was nice in many ways but had issues. For dinner, the concierge recommended a nearby contemporary Japanese restaurant named Ki. It was delighful in all ways, and is well worth a visit if you're in Toronto and like Japanese food -- especially sushi. A look at Ki's web sit...

Best in Toronto

from A TripAdvisor Member
The Westin is definitely my favorite hotel in Toronto. We always request a suite overlooking the water. It is spacious, bright and quiet. Last July we were there for one week and the staff could not have been more helpful. I highly recommend this hotel. We have tried the exercise room and liked it. But we haven't tried the restaurant because we're not big on hotel restaurants. Hope this help!

70th birthday surprise

My husband was born in Toronto in 1933 and left age 4 so this was a surprise trip which he knew nothing about until we reached the airport. Toronto was superb and was all our best holidays rolled into one as it has everything. We stayed in the Westin Harbour Castle hotel and do ask for the South tower as it has the best views. It is great - especially the heavenly bed. Eating out - we were spoilt for choice but especially liked Filet of Sole and Kama which were both very good value. Dinner in CN Tower was a real treat and dinner and breakfast in our Hotel were also excellent. We especially liked the Islands but had sore rear ends after 3 hours cycling on the rickedy bikes. The beaches and Chinatown were also worthwhile trips. Best of all were the friendly people who went out of their way to be helpful. We found his old house so a trip down memory lane. GO!

Not worth your time

Spent 2 nights over the long weekend and it was trouble from the beginning. No valet parking available, self park is in a terrible location, not enough staff on front desk-long check-in time. Put in trashy room and moved after complaint to front desk. Mould on air conditioning vents in room, fire alarm went off at 3:00am because of smoke bomb in elevator, hotel restaurant was way too busy 45 min for breakfast.

All this and not even an apology at check-out.

Don't waste your time with this over-priced, over-rated hotel.

Westin Harbour Castle--great!!

from A TripAdvisor Member
I loved the Westin Harbour Castle. The staff were all extremely helpful and pleasant. I was in Toronto at a convention, and there was a big welcome sign at the hotel--in addition, just after registering I was presented with a cold drink in the lobby. My room had a wonderful view of Lake Ontario, as did the gym on the 5th floor. You could stand on a treadmill and look out at the lake. The pool and hot tub and the staff were fantastic there too.

The location was convenient and there was a choice of restaurants within the hotel. I had a very nice meal and drink in the open and spacious bar/lobby area one day and used the restaurant for breakfast--the buffet is the best deal there.

I liked the Westin a lot and would go there again for a subsequent visit to Toronto.

A fabulous weekend!

from A TripAdvisor Member
I recently stayed at the Westin Harbour Castle over the holiday weekend. It was a fabulous weekend. The location was outstanding and the views of the city and the harbour were outstanding. The bed was probably one of the most comfortable that I have ever slept in. The staff was first-rate; they were very accommodating while we were there and I accidently left a few personal belongings in the room and the staff was very helpful in getting those returned to me. If you're going to Toronto soon, I highly recommend staying in the castle!

Great hotel

We got a last minute deal to Toronto and spent a fantastic four days in the Harbour Castle. Our room was a good size and unusually shaped, making it far more attractive than the normal run-of-the-mill hotel rooms. As a bonus, we had a gorgeous view out across Lake Ontario - and on the second day it started snowing! You can imagine how beautiful it was.Everything was spotless, the bed was clean and comfortable, and the bathroom spacious. One annoying thing was that the rooms are connected via a (locked) door, and we could hear the beer lovers next door collapsing in at about four in the morning EVERY morning. They certainly could have been a lot louder, but it was loud enough. And none of the ice machines were working. Still, the front desk seemed polite, though there were a hell of a lot of people milling around when we got there, which was a bit disorientating. The room service was excellent, if a little pricey, and, on the first night when we were too jet-lagged to go out, we ordered in sandwiches and fries and, though it was simple, it was extremely tasty. After that, we discovered Bon Marché - I think it was on Yonge Street, though I'm not sure. If you're going to Toronto, seek it out - the food is unbelievable.Overall, a fantastic four-day break.

Going Downhill

from dap260
Second time visiting this hotel and it is assuredly going downhill in both service and luxury. Front desk and reservation was a confusing mess with seemingly everyone in line having problems with getting what they had reserved. The room was VERY small and cramped and the appointments aged. The restaurant was never all that great, but it did have the novelty of rotating which made for some nice views, however it no longer revolves (of course no where was this mentioned) so you are left with mediocre selection and quality, and all the ambience you would expect from sitting in a broken down, revolving restaurant. The next night we asked the concierge for restaurant recommendations and we might as well have asked him the age of the galaxy as he was of no assistance whatsover. All in all this was a huge step down from my earlier visit and we have already booked the Sheraton downtown for our next trip at the end of the month.

Valet service troubles

from A TripAdvisor Member
While staying at the Westin Harbour Castle we had no choice but to have our car parked by their parking service. When we returned home we found that our front bumper had been badly scraped. Check your car before you leave the hotel area.
